Some people have told me that it's "your body, your right, you should do whatever you want to; whatever you feel like." And I think that's wrong. Look at what the world is today...THis has been caused by people doing "whatever makes them happy." I don't think tattoos are necessarily a SIN...but just think for a moment. Your body is God's temple. Would you go to church and put graffiti on it? Of course not! That'd be the ultimate disrespect! Almost like spitting in God's face and shrugging it off. Since, then, your body IS God's temple, why would you mark it up with "graffiti?" These are simply MY thoughts. I think that the whole tattoo thing is something that everybody has to seriously think and pray about before they decide if a tattoo would be for them. It's like drinking, smoking, or dating vs courtship. Everybody has to make the decision that they believe is best for and what God wants for them.
Amen. That was an excellent point that you made. I'm not necessarily inclined to suggest that one shouldn't or should get one, but I don't endorse the idea actively by any stretch.
As far as people doing whatever makes them happy is concerned, I think that has been going on for quite a long time now. I would say that the majority of the people in this world think of themselves as a mirror, and the world is nothing but a reflection of themselves. They see in the material goods and fortunes of this world an opportunity to acquire wealth for themselves and sustain their well being for the years to come, and if that means stepping on others to do so then so be it. Who feels good about doing for others when you are barely able to do for yourself? Who feels good about pleasing our Lord by serving Him obediently and with unrelenting faith?
Sorry... now it's turning into a rant.
To each their own, I suppose, but I wouldn't personally want a tattoo. I've always thought it was kind of silly to permanently mark oneself with a symbol of some kind that one may or may not like or agree with down the road. As I understand it, tattoo removals are a rather unpleasant and unreliable experience. As for self-expression, I'd have to insist that more pertinent and meaningful methods of expression exist as opposed to mere ink.

I've always been taught to not get a tattoo. Your body is a living sacrifice for God he may not care as much about how you look on the outside then how you look on the inside (heart). I personally believe we should leave our bodies just the way that God made us. Tattoos are okay but I would not recommend them. Its in the end your choice, do what makes you happy.

definitely not a tattoo, more of a holy mark for Jesus Alone, as you may say a branding but what evs.

I know what I'm saying. People can't use this as an argument because this is old testament and this particular verse is talking to the Israelites telling them not to make marks on their skin because it was what the pagans were doing for rituals.
As well as...if you follow this verse than you need to follow the ones around it as well such as cutting your hair, eat seafood..etc. Either Jesus death on the cross abolished the old law or it didn't. I don't agree with tattoos but that verse is not talking about that.
Anyone's best bet is to pray and seek God about it and follow your convictions.
