Thank you Jesus for blessing me with the understanding to not mark my body in a way that is not pleasing to you Lord. I pray that those who lack the wisdom and are dull of understanding come to the truth of your Word, and know what the Spirit saith. Lord I also know that you look upon the heart of a person, and not the outside. And when a person sees your love and gets an understanding of your will through the power of the Holy Spirit, then the what is on the inside begins to be seen on the outside. Amen
The passage quoted in Hebrews 7 does not have the supposed force that you imply here.

God knows my heart, and the desire I have for others to walk in the light and not be blinded be the world and and it's lies. Do not confuse the confidence that I have in the Lord Jesus Christ, with boasting of my own self. You are judging me when you do not even know me. I have judged no one, or accused anyone, but simply stated the truth regarding the body and what is pleasing unto our heavenly Father. I have also prayed for others to see the truth, where as the self righteous pharisee made judgement towards them. Just like what you have done towards me.
To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 1 Corinthians 12:8

The Lord also knows how many times I have been on my face before Him in repentant tears working out my own salvation. He has seen my heart, and I still get on my knees before Him, seeking a pure heart.

The old OT says stuff about not marking your bodies and stuff but first of all, they used marking their bodies for worshiping their Greek God's. it's also in the OT and Jesus came to set us free from it.
I want a tatoo, but make sure it's something that'll mean something to you.
Possibly some people will have cause to give thanks for witness conversations that have arisen as a result of such faith based designs. Romans 14 and its truth of individual responsibility and liberty are a guide here.

Monica: It's certainly very widespread, and now especially that many Christian women do it in faith based designs it's really kind of in a rather different ball park from the way it might have been perceived several decades back.

What about the next verse that mentions not trimming the corners of one's beard?
Do preachers shave?
Are New Testament believers really under the law in the sense that Old Testament Jews (with bushy beards) in the land were?

Well, just trying to interpret the Scriptures in a sound way.
I must admit; I do appreciate the writings of C I Scofield, J N Darby and other dispensational writers who make a distinction between being under law, and under grace; Israel and the church, etc.
Some believers, exercising a Romans 14 liberty, are motivated to use a John 3.16, or Christian fish symbol <><, etc. designs in witness.

I must say that Christ did indeed fulfill the law, and set us free from having to keep the law. I do feel however that although we are not required to keep the law there are certain things that God said when He made the law that to this very day can be used as a benefit to the well being of our spirit, soul, and bodies. The bible says that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He does not change His mind concerning certain issues. The same God that said we shouldn't mark our bodies in anyway also said not to commit adultery. I will use that as an example. So if we say to ourselves that, well it really no longer matters what God said in the law, because none of that matters, then I guess really it's ok to commit adultery. You see, Israel was unable to keep the whole law, that is why Jesus fulfilled it. But at the same time there are things in the law we should take in account in our personal lives, because it is sound wisdom and is of a great benefit to us. Make sense?

The difference being that in the New Testament there are plenty of comments against adultery; but where do we go in the New Testament to suggest that a faith based tattoo for witness purposes is so alien to be prohibited? Christians with faith based tattoos can hardly be called 'unclean'.

My answer to that is we have only a small account of what was spoken by Christ and the apostles. Jesus walked with the disciples for three years and do you really think that all of what they talked about is written in the bible? The Spirit of God is a discerner of good and evil. Strong meat is for those who by practice have learned to discern both good from evil.
