So do I, Resurrection33. By the way, thats a gorgeous rainbow picture!! They are so beautiful! :)

If there are disadvantages such as having to care for it, cover it in some circumstances, etc., then some Christians who have faith based ones that are also effective in witness would include any disadvantages as a worthwhile price to pay in order to engage in this kind of frequent, conversation-starting testimony.

Blessings.

Ashley, VERY interesting project for your Ethics class. Good choice.

I have a tattoo, and I love it. I acctually would like to get another one. The one I have has meaning, and the one I desire to get has meaning.

I am of course opposed to tattoos of things that are evil, or gross or crude or sexualized.

So is your tattoo design faith based?

Ashley, in the bible there are only 2 scriptures which touch base on the category of things done to the body. In Leviticus, theres a passage referring to the old Levitical laws which states one should not make any cuttings on the flesh to the dead or any marks on the body. In the New Testament there is a verse which states 'your body is the Lord's holy temple and not to defile it in any manner'. To me there is not any passage that really condones tattoos in the bible and I think ultimately its up to the discretion of each individual.

Maybe motive, as regards faith based designs used in witness (Bible ref., Christian fish sign <><, etc.) might have something to do with it for New Testament believers under grace?

Blessings.

I personally find nothing wrong with them. They have to mean something to me. I will never regret the ones ive had done. Like someone else said im not a fan if they are crude or sexualized. I think placement is an important thing to consider as well. It can be a beautiful piece of art but I think its ruined if you put it in a trashy area.

Sarah:

There is certainly a variety of perfectly decent tattoo placements that people can use, right?

And particularly since in North America 59% - 70% of parlor clients are female - apparently - then with those from 18 year olds to moms and grandmothers that have it done (like you, with no regrets) - especially if the design is faith-based, it seems that the fact that there are various decent placements available to receive the inking needle, is pretty widely recognized. Seems so to me, anyway.

Blessings.

I too have multiple tattoos. You can check them out in my album. They each do mean something very dear to me and it was interesting that the guy that was doing them was very interested in what they meant. While I won't say to get tattoos JUST to minister to the tattoo artist, it's sort of icing on the cake. I've share the Gospel many times by sharing the stories that go with mine.
Well, a lot of Christians would say that faith related tattoo designs are proven effective in witness situations.
