What occurred in (Gen 16:2-12) explains the beginning relationship between the birth mothers of Isaac and Ishmael and explains some of the prevailing attitudes that exists today. In Gen 16 God makes a covenant with 'Abraham', making 'Sarah' the mother of many nations and promised to establish that covenant with 'Isaac' and not with 'Ishmael'. The rub in all this is that God established his covenant with Isaac and not Ishmael and this establishing of that covenant is on going and continuous action. And from the weaning of Isaac, Ishmael to this very day still mocks Israel and the covenant that was established. No matter what Israel does they will be mocked and attacked and made out to be a ridicule of the world because of jealousy and envy, even though God has made Ishmael great, just as promised. The Ishmael crowd will never be content until Israel is either destroyed, incapacitated or cast out to nullify that covenant established with Isaac.

the only covenant remaining for either Ishamel or Isaac is The One (New) neither of them has entered (unless they identify as Christians):

so they can fight until the cows come home - it's for nothing. neither is in Covenant with God (if they are not Christians).

if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed...and heirs according to the Promise.


Paul here makes it plain unbelieving Isaac/Jacob-Israelites are in the same condition as Hagar and Ishmael.

If he is of Jewish descent then he is a Jew. You can't classify him as a Gentile and if he does not believe in Christ then you can't classify him as a Christian or a member of Christ's body. I know what Paul said about the promise seed, but they are still Jews and are of Israel and they still have hope in the coming Messiah after rejecting him the first time. If you don't believe that it becomes your problem and a major sore spot with the Jews. Doesn't have to be that way but for you it is. Are they in unbelief and have they been partially blinded, YES!!!!!!! Can they come out of that blindness, YES!!!!!!! Some have already (a remnant - the election that obtained it by grace Rom 11:5), and they will as a people when the fulness of the Gentiles has come in (Rom 11:25,26). That fulness of the Gentiles has been going on for about (2) days or 2,000 years and is nearer now to its fulness then ever before. If those who believe in Christ are the children of promise and are the true Jews, why did Paul keep referring to the believers as Gentiles in Rom 11? If they are spiritual Jews by promise then lets call them Jews or would that be too confusing for the church and why the distinction of the Jew first then the Gentile if both were one and their was no more Jew and Gentile or male and female? Why was only Paul selected to minister the gospel to the Gentiles as the other apostles spent most of their time with the Jews, with Paul being such a zealot Hebrew and a Pharisee of Pharisees? Why would he go to such lengths to minister to the Jews when he proclaimed this in 1 Cor 9:16-23.

16 For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!
17 For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me.

Paul certainly kept his perspective about the nation of Israel and no one can deny that, having a great desire that Israel might be saved (Rom 10:1). I do not believe for one minute that he was referring to the true Jews or the true Israel of God, if he was, from your side of things, they would already have been saved and accounted for but instead Paul gives them a future reference for salvation in Rom 11:30-32.


30 For as ye (Gentiles) in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their (Israel) unbelief:
31 Even so have these (Israel) also now not believed, that through your (Gentiles) mercy they also may obtain mercy.
