The 9th of Av, part 24
The Month of Av
The beginning of this month appears to be negative, but the rest of the month is positive.
The highest high is in this month, the fifteenth of Av. We are also told that all the fasts, all the days of destruction will turn to rejoicing, they will turn to positive days. The month of Tammuz is controlled by the moon, the month of Av is controlled by the Sun.
The word sun in Hebrew comes from the word to serve there is another word for sun which means heat. So the sun is very powerful, on the negative side this can be destructive. For example a car is much more powerful than a bike. If you have an accident on a bike it might not be so serious, but if you have an accident in a car it could be far more destructive. Now compare a truck to a car. The sun is very powerful.
The sign of the month is the Lion. A very powerful animal. In Ezekiel the chariot that God sits in has four faces on the four corners, the front right corner is the Lion.
The letter used to create the month is the letter tet. This letter comes from the Hebrew word for good. The entire essence of the month is good. Externally the month looks negative, but the essence is good. The middle of the month is Tub' Av, it is a very auspicious day, the holiday of love. The first part of the month is controlled by the Sun and the second half by the moon. The place where they meet is in the middle.
For many people they can ignore God all the time until things are really bad, then all of a sudden God is punishing you. So what you see as "bad" is actually waking people up to the fact that God is real.
The first use of the word "good" is when God created light on the first day. However, prior to that there was the light of creation and that also was good, but that good was hidden, concealed, to be revealed at a later time.
Then let's consider where this letter tet is not. If you look at the ten commandments, in the first five you can find every letter in the Hebrew alphabet except for the letter tet. God knew that these tablets would be broken and if the letter tet had been there then they couldn't break. In the second five commandments you get the letter tet in one spot where it says "it should be good for you".
The way this letter is written is very concealing, like a circle that goes within itself. Whatever is good will ultimately be concealed. The world is the opposite, the exterior looks good and wonderful while the interior is cheap. This letter represents the good that is not revealed.
The 9th of Av is when the temple is destroyed, twice, and the reason it is destroyed twice (like the two tablets) is because of sins and because we did not serve the Lord with happiness.
It is the same with a marriage. Why do marriages fail, one reason of course is sin. But the other, imagine the husband or wife does everything they are supposed to, no sin, but also no happiness. They appear miserable everyday. Who could endure such a marriage? Where does the happiness come from? You must believe that you are blessed. If you are miserable in your marriage it reveals what you think of your spouse.
