Suggestion: An additional forum for Christians to learn how to do business - earn incomes

I think it would be a good idea for christianchat.com to also have a subject on good options for helping men learn how to earn a good income. The Bible says it is good for all men to be earning an income, and to be providing well for their families. So this should also be of concern to Christians. And I see that Christians' advice to one another in these things might be of great benefit.
2 Thess 3:11-12

12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

Definitely ain't happening. It would become nothing more than a place for every internet scam artist to extort from the unsuspecting and gullible with the latest get rich quick schemes.

I think there's a right way and a wrong way to do everything. So the way to avoid wrong elements, I believe, would be to be careful - but don't think it's good to completely avoid this need. I can think of some ways to keep it from being dangerously over-ruled by scams. Like allowing ones to express what they feel are scams. And also explaining that one's need to do be cautious about trying out new methods of earning incomes that are headed by someone else. The Bible says to be always cautious in making decisions. I think many business mistakes could be avoided if people had more access to information and experiences of others. Another thing I'd make plain, is that Christians who are proven to have close and right relationships with God, are the ones most trustworthy if asked questions on this kind of subject. And that ones should know that anyone who doesn't give good proof of having a good, close relationship, should not be fully trusted. Another thing, is that business advice is safer to get in businesses that people can be self-employed in, and that don't have a boss over them, that makes the rules for them. Whenever there is a boss over them, it's true there's greater likelihoood of fraud out of greed. Think of how in early US history, it was more common for people to learn a trade through apprenticeship. And also more common for fathers to pass their business skills on to their sons. Similarly, older men who are Christians could be of benefit to younger Christians I believe. The Bible calls older men of the church "fathers" and old women as "mothers" to give advice to others."

Well Once Fallen is one of the longest running and most respected mods on the site. So chances are his understanding of what the site owner would and would not choose to put on, and the reasons why, would be spot on.
As far as people calling out scams, that's not exactly a protection. And if anyone were to fall for a scam they may decide to hold the site responsible and attempt to sue.
Understand mods on this site are not paid, and are only available during their own personal time. Therefore mods are not always available. Nor do they monitor the forums personally, but rely on users reporting problematic users.
So creating an environment that would draw scammers without the ability to monitor it 24/7 puts users and the site at risk.

I see. Maybe not a good idea if there aren't enough moderators for it. Even churches needed overseers to help make sure things went right in New Testament churches. Well, still, maybe business instruction could be done if there were rules that they aren't to mention any business names or sites - but instead, only to mention other wise how - to do - business advice. But if the one in charge of this site isn't willing, for that either, than I guess there's no hope for it on this site. Thanks for explaining!

There's the option of trying to create a thread on the topic. Perhaps it'll get approved by mods since it won't be officially created by the site, but by a user.

Yes, a thread called business tips or something might be interesting. Your thread just reminded me of another verse. It is so impt for us to learn to earn our own living. Some time ago, I also heard some women leaders telling younger women who are often 'dependent' on their husbands, to strive to learn how to earn and consider the Lord their source of any financial earnings or rewards, not their husbands. This does not imply competing, but being partners w/ them. Esp when something happens and the Lord takes them away, we are not taken by surprise.

Yes, and that's a good verse you mentioned on the subject, too! I think you're right that having a thread called "business" - could be a worthwhile thing to have in here. And we might face hard times in the future - who knows? For sure, there's always some who already face hard financial times, and don't know how to improve it. I think it is such an unfortunate thing to be suffering financially. And am sure it isn't God's will for His people to suffer that way, though as Paul the apostle implied , sometimes, it can't be avoided. I think it's good to prepare for the future and for the unknown - it's always wiser to look ahead and plan ahead - not only for the expected, but also for the unexpected.
I've read that Christians have had a big role in teaching and training, and helping people. Some things that have become lucrative businesses in modern times, were started out by Christians, I've heard, just out of love and concern for others. If wasn't for their starting these things, they might not have ever started. Things like schools, hospitals. They are now corrupt and greedy.
Spiritual teaching and training has always been an important part of running good churches. This can be seen in the New Testament. But it's true that it is valuable and helpful to train those of the church in other things too, that can help better their lives. And I'm sure God likes everyone to be as well equipped for life as is possible. He always wants the best for HIs children.
Some people are less skilled in management of money or of learning good ways of employment. While others tend to have more natural skill for those things. And so could be of benefit to others through their advice and sharing accounts of their experiences in these things, I think.
