Today, after only a year and a half I harvested a small crop of grapes from vines I planted a year ago last February.

Kinda amazed.

I had to get them before the birds did.

So....tomorrow I am going to try to make a pint....maybe a quart of grape jelly.

I truly have a fruit and nut farm.

Ok....
To keep things updated.

After a lot of crushing and excoriating pressure was applied. Squeezing beyond prudence

I got 12 Oz of juice.

And I made one pint of jelly.

I got to lick the pan and rubber spatula.

I had forgotten.....

How freaking good scratch grape jelly was. It's simply amazing. Even from my poor grapes....it's just absolutely ridiculously amazing. Makes you want to slap somebody for giving you Smuckers or Welche's for all those years.

PB&J never knew what hit it.

It's been over 20 years....probably over 30 since Grandpa had his garden and told me to have those grapes as he didn't want to mess with them. (I gave him a jar too)
I filled a large ice chest with the grapes and took them back to my townhouse and bought a bunch of jars (quart and pint) and filled most of them.
Then gave away the jelly to everyone including my Sister-in-law for my nieces.

She called me a year later....told me she would pay ANYTHING if I could give her another jar of jelly. Apparently my nieces were on a jam and jelly boycott because nobody made it as good as Uncle John.

Yeah....she was so pissed at me for hearing about how uncle John made everything better. From breakfast eggs, gingerbread houses, and even grape jelly.
Heard she slapped her sister for divorcing me 10 years later for no other reason than she knew her sister was just dumb. Throwing away a perfectly wonderful chef. She was as angry as the rest of her family for it too. Sokay....I got a wife and family that is better these days. Made all of my AND my father's dreams come true of happy family get-togethers and holidays...
Like having a fruit and nut farm and making grape jelly, scratch breakfast sausage patties, and homemade bread for the breakfast table.
It's stuff so good with the love that you could cry for being a part of it all.

@seoulsearch I got some pears off one of my pear trees today! Not sure when I planted them, but they are a little younger than my apple trees. My apple trees aren't doing so well this year so I guess the pears made up for it.

Also have about 200 plus peppers ready to pick :D!

merry morn to you all on CC!!!! did anyone ever start a "breakfast" topic, just about breakfast? because a.m. dining is important to start the day. tis' a joy to wake up & talk to Jesus that moves us to a breakfast with a cheery atmosphere, also, especially if flowers, the sun, a temperature with an attitude & a Christian smile embrace us. today, Saturday, my wife & i will dine on our "country music- waffle -bacon breakfast" . mrs. wife prefers Tim Horton's decaf coffee & i prefer Jamaican Blue Mountain Wallenford coffee.

The house painting saga is ongoing....

Ok, so I ordered a pressure washer and some other tools to begin the paint grinding process. (Lead paint abatement is a PITA)

HOWEVER....
Everything BUT the pressure washer came in. So I called the shipping company and they tracked it to where I wanted it shipped to (TSC) and told me who signed for it. LAST FRIDAY.
So I've been in the store several times since, asking about it and gotten blank looks.

So when I called them this morning I told them when it had been delivered and who signed for it. Low and behold they "found it".

Since this thing weighs almost 200 lbs (176) I want to pick it up using my trailer with the ramp and a dolly.

So I locate my straps and drive my truck to my trailer just to see that I can't see it. A tree had fallen on it last night creating a widowmaker on top of my trailer.
Trailer looks fine but I ain't getting it out without first cutting up the tree.

I've been intending on getting a chainsaw for those trees....now I have to go by and purchase one so I can get back to the store to pick up the washer.

Yep.....first world problems.

facebook marketplace, "cut and remove for the wood" ad?
Well,

Got the tree mostly down. At least the part on the trailer.
And due to my rigging....I didn't lose so much as a tail light. I kept it tied up so it wouldn't fall and SLOWLY cut and dismantled the tree. (One of those Carolina cherry trees. Deemed to be an invasive species)

I also got a 1T chain hoist on my sprayer and floated it off my truck bed. Then drove the truck out and then let it down to the ground.

Then came inside because it's hot out there.
(Where I'm at now)
When I finish this Gatorade, gonna haul the branches up to the street and chop up and fell the rest of that POS tree.

The trunk will be firewood for this winter. Not as good as oak...but it will do.

Then see about unboxing and moving my washer so I can put my lawnmower up....moving my trailer so I can load the lawnmower up and use it tomorrow. (Dad's and my place).

The new Husqvarna rancher 450 saw is nice. Cuts like butter with no bogging down. I likely will get a bigger bar and chain for it. (Can handle it with ease) But....here's the kicker. My day....uggghhhh.
I have the premixed gas (running low but not out) that's good for the saw. I THOUGHT I had bar/chain oil....leftover from borrowing a neighbors saw and my Father-in-law's electric. Knew right where it was on the shelf in my barn. NOPE.
Another trip out but this time practically in walking distance.
But it's just getting annoying.

So....
One more trip out....in all my haste and everything going wrong. I forgot pool bleach for the pressure washing. Got TSP, upsized rubber garden hose (true ¾" and not a ⅜ wannabe ¾ garden hose) and everything else I need....extra pressure hose for washer, the swirly tip that rotates the fine high pressure, ethanol free gas, the soap tip SHOULD be in the crate with the washer (as well as siphon tube for the soap...dont want a foam cannon....thats for cars)

So.....MAYBE by Saturday I can pressure wash and by Monday I can start grinding off paint. Maybe.....
