My birthday is in January. I won't wade into the discussion about eating times and quantities because what I do is all wrong according to current advice, but it's all I can manage to do. I will say though that eating at 4pm is silly in my mind. I'm more of a continental fellow. I prefer my supper time to be between 8 and 9pm. I have to have supper on the table here at home at 6pm for my Dad, and it drives me bonkers to eat that early.

I ate a light lunch. I did actually eat dinner at 4 usually. So I ate something light at 4pm and when I was eating I thought...how funny..YIG just made fun of me in regards to this and my age. I will eat again when I get home from my bible study thing. Assuming I'm hungry enough. I really need to eat more. I've only had about half of what I should eat in a day.

Do you eat after 4pm, because that is too early to stop unless you eat breakfast at 3am. Going from 4pm til the next morning will put your body in self-preservation mode (starvation mode). Ideal eating times is every 3 hours, 4 hours at most with last meal 3 hours before bedtime.

Here is a WebMD article written by a registered dietician about how often we should eat (snacks and meals)...
6 Meals a Day for Weight Loss

Just to counter the eat lots of meals to lose weight idea, I strongly suggest looking up intermittent fasting (I like to think of it as scheduled eating you just plan your meals so that you only eat in a 6 or 8 hour window during the day) as a weight loss technique. Dr. Jason Fung in particular is a big proponent of fasting for health and its many benefits and does a lot to clear up the misinformation that surrounds healthy eating.

As for not feeling hungry, we could give God some credit for designing our bodies to be smart enough to know when they need to eat. If you aren't hungry don't eat yet (at least if it's only been a few days, if it's been a few months that you haven't felt like eating at all then yeah, maybe there's a problem).

And no this isn't directed personally at zero, just a response to the ideas he posted.

I was thinking what cinder said. Sometimes I think I should eat but my body says "meh." If I eat a full meal anyway I always wind up feeling really full and bogged down.

Tonight was one of those times. Instead of a meal I had a couple handfuls of unsalted peanuts for supper.

There's this song that I don't particularly care for, but the line, I'm only pretty sure that I can't take anymore, won't stop going through my head. My 10 year old daughter is stubborn and so defiant. She's just like me in so many ways. My Mothers curse worked.

I jazzed up a package of Ramen noodles (not Maruchan...some Thailand-made brand I get from the local Asian grocery), with some extra ground red pepper and a smidgen of peanut butter.

Was. So. Awesome.

I wouldn't be surprised, as her mom is very active about finding her.
hey, i wouldn't swear to it, but i think i saw her family and story featured on a program on ID network that seeks to reunite missing family members. have you seen it?

it's indeed heartbreaking. so many families and hurting that deserve our tears.

What totally blows my mind is that God is working intricately in my life. He's active, alive ,and doing...He is also doing that in the lives of billions of people...where I have the problem of keeping track of myself^_^

Yes, I've heard a doctor talk about how intermittent fasting can be beneficial, but your statement about the body only being hungry when it needs food isn't really accurate. I learned from a registered dietician (basically a doctor of nutrition - 4 years of study plus internship) She has worked years in hospitals helping people with special nutritional needs and she explained that the brain will stop telling you its hungry after some time. It's like we have a natural appetite suppressant system that kicks in when the brain believes food is scarce. She said many morbidly obese people actually eat only one meal a day and wonder why they aren't lose weight. Our metabolism is like an old steam engine that runs on coal. You feed it and it continues to burn, fan the flames with exercise and it will get hotter, you stop feeding it and it cools down.

Driving on the roads of a neighbouring country on a business trip a while back I naturally made use of a navigation app to guide me to my various destinations and then finally back to the airport. Of course on occasion when I was focused on the radio, I missed a turn, but I was always guided back on course with gentle but firm voice prompts. Ever notice how Lucy or Tom or whatever your navigator voice is called, never has attitude? You just get guided back on to the right route no matter how many times you decide to 2nd guess the navigator. Whats NOT programmed into the app is, "Now why didn't you make that turn? You never listen! If you think you know the route then I'll let you find that place yourself!" Nope. Just "Calculating" then an instruction.

Sounds like how God treats me when I tend to lose my way. He just lovingly guides me back onto the right path.

Psalm 86:15

But You, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, Slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness and truth.
