My 15 year old son is a competitive swimmer. To him it would be the pinnacle of his career. It would be the chance to prove you are the best in your sport. For swimmers, it's like their Super Bowl but more challenging because they only get a chance every 4 years. It means a lot to a lot of people. Whether my son is in it or not I watch it and enjoy when people succeed, even if they aren't my family. I honestly think it depends on your perspective. I've always enjoyed and will always enjoy the Olympics.
Yes, it's still the ultimate goal for athletes and people still get a kick out of watching it, but when I used to watch it there were only like 10 different sports. They didn't have beach volleyball, canoeing, BMX biking (really?!), horse competitions, wrestling, etc... It's designed to be a money grab now even though the original events are still in there somewhere...

I realise today that I like Hawk Nelson and his music. Especially "Live like you're loved" and "Diamonds" and "Only You" and "Drops in the Ocean." Actually, this entire album: Diamonds

There is no member of that band called Hawk Nelson, that's just the band name.

What is the point of the Olympics? Does anyone (besides those competing and families of them) care who wins? Just seems like a waste of money to me.

I feel this way about pretty much any professional sports and their advertising (and yes I know Olympics technically aren't professional). But it is better to compete in sports to see who is better and gets bragging rights than to compete to see who can wreak the most destruction on another militarily and prove their superiority that way.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of being selfish and having ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies.
Succeed anyway.
What you spend years building, someone may try to destroy overnight.
Build anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough.
Give it your best anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it's between you and God.
It was never between you and them, anyway.

I guess I'm biased because I don't care about sports at all. lol But it's cool that some people do. Do you think your son will make it? That would be so cool!

I do like to watch figure skating every once in a while in the Olympics. I just think it's really pretty. :o

I was also surprised by the amount it costs to host the Olympics and that the budgets always go over. I really hope the USA doesn't host it in 2024.

I have no idea if my son will make it. I think he could if he realizes he's a much better swimmer than he thinks he is. He would be most likely to go in 2024 probably. No clue what God has in store but will support whatever that is.

I agree figure skating is really pretty.

I think I woke my neighbor up last night XD. I came home and saw a fiddleback crawling up my house. It fell down right in front of me. I needed to squish it, but I wasn't about to get that on my Kobe's, so I grabbed this concrete block I have outside and dropped it from like 5 ft. in the air right on it lol. I panicked okay.

I hate spiders. Hopefully it's little friends saw what happens

I tape them while they are still alive to my ceiling fan as an example for the others. :(

I just binged on a bunch of Nutter Butter peanut butter cookies til I can't eat anymore, and now I just happened to find a frozen hershey bar in the freezer. Oh the humanity!

It's nearly 5:30am.. I actually slept through the night for a change (not because of insomnia, because I always end up doing stuff like organizing or watching youtube vids)... Now I have to get my rusty old body moving so I can acquire some of that stuff called breakfast... :p

I know spider's are freaky looking and I've been bitten by them before, non poisonous, but I did get an infection on my face where one bit me. Anyhow there are many spiders that are harmless. They get rid of other bug's for you. I'm happy when I see a Daddy Long Legs in my garden because they eat the other bug's.

I usually catch them on a broom and put them outside.

Ok so today I learned that the only fast food place open around here before 6am is McDonalds. I really was craving that loaded breakfast sandwich from jack in the box... but the two for $4.30 sausage egg mcmuffin will suffice..
