you know what's funny? i used to be one of those people who couldn't fathom why anyone would want to run. i thought it was some weird thing that people only do when they have nothing better to do or obsessed with exercise (or something like that).
i used to say, "i'll run if someone is chasing me, but until then..."
anyway, about 8 years ago, when i was still in recovery from my accident, my trainer challenged me to do something that would be a radical departure from my normal, pilates-type stuff. i was pretty skeptical from the outset and rather loudly objected.
at some point, i started running on my own sporadically. then it just slowly seeped into my life. running has such a peaceful (daresay zen) effect and a great way to clear your mind of thought. i find it to be a good time to pray.
probably my favorite thing about running though is that i don't sleep all that well when i don't spend all my energy. and running works pretty well for doing just that.
if running was a pill, i would imagine it'd be a quadruple-shot energy drink, a tranquilizer, a muscle relaxant and an anti-depressant all rolled into one. and that's just the beginning of the list of benefits.
who wouldn't take that???
