I think that if we would only stop to consider the lyrics of a lot of the songs that are bombarded over the airwaves, we would be surprised.
Interesting note, the girl in the song turned him down and kept her chastity. If they would have listened to the entire song—instead of focusing on part of it without context—it could have actually been spun into an anti-peer pressure message.
if you don't like the message, don't look or listen.
it's like the idiots burning books because they don't want anyone to get any ideas.
i've admired beautiful paintings created by nazi artists, read the provocative words of people whom i genuinely fear (for society's sake), and sang along to songs that discussed things i don't approve of.
art isn't about making everyone feel better. it's an expression of thought. it can elevate the spirit like nothing else. it can turn my heart toward God, out of gratitude, fear, love, or even anger.
i have literally dozens of journals. if you read one page, you might think i'm an angry person. another page might make me sound like i'm chemically-enhanced-happy, and yet another page reveals me as a woman who deeply loves God.
art is just a moment, or a "page" in someone's life.
