I wonder whether Anne-Frid Ljungsted would get confused between Norwegian and Swedish when travelling between Narvik and Kiruna?

The developmentally disabled gentleman I support has a volnteer job in a Catholic thrift store. Right now at the store, Billy Joel's "Only the Good Die Young" is playing. I remember when this song came out, the Catholic church was in an uproar. Funny how times change.

I sometimes take Swedish calls at work. I find it funny that, on average, Norwegians understand more Swedish than the Swedish people understand Norwegian.

So you reply in Norwegian if they call you in Swedish, right?

I reckon Faeroese or Icelandic would be more difficult, and, as for Finnish - impossible without learning it...

A good way to get to know another language is to read a familiar passage from the Bible in it. John chapter 1, for example.

All I can say in Finnish is: Suomi on kaunis (Finland is beautiful).

It has been a fantastic morning. Everything is amazing in the country after a Spring storm. My morning run was energizing.

I have to say that I think I scared my dog while I was reading more autocorrect funnies, but laughing-so-hard-I'm-crying-and-about-to-fall-out-of-my-chair is good medicine.

i guess i don't pay the catholic church much attention. what was the reason for the uproar? i am decently familiar with the song...

I think that if we would only stop to consider the lyrics of a lot of the songs that are bombarded over the airwaves, we would be surprised.

Interesting note, the girl in the song turned him down and kept her chastity. If they would have listened to the entire song—instead of focusing on part of it without context—it could have actually been spun into an anti-peer pressure message.
