Anyone know how to make AOEII run on WIN 7
Tried compatibility mode (Vista, XP, Win 95) - no help
Tried switching colour settings - No help
The game installed without any error messages, but nothing happens when I try to start it.
Hey there. I had managed to get it to run on Win 7. Perhaps I can be of some assistance.
Cool. What did you do?
Like I said, neither compatibility or colour settings made any difference,
and there is no error message to tell me what is wrong. It just doesn't seem to want to try to start
Did you try running the program on another computer (if possible)? Perhaps see if it works with another system.
What kind of screen do you get when you try to load? Does it go black and then crash? Or does it just not respond. What version of AOE2 are you trying to install, Kings or the Conquerors Expansion?
You can also try reinstalling the game.
Fellow AOE fan.
I don't have another computer, just my laptop.
It has previously worked on another computer, but that was Win95 (and I think I ran it on XP once as well, yet another computer)
I was trying the Age of Kings
Yeah, I can try reinstalling it, but it seems so strange that nothing happens whatsoever.
The computer does that "blink" which it does sometimes when about to start doing something, but nothing else,
no back screen, no message, no signs of it "working" with anything. It just gives up without really trying
I had the same problem with CBTCD ... maybe my old games just don't like me anymore![]()
There was a version of DirectX with the CD
Neither that nor changing the settings (colour, resolution, compatibility) helps
