I know this is not the appropriate time to share this info, but I think I should.
My parents are strict Pentecostals who go to a church that, to me, behaves like a cult. We have never owned a T.V.. I was never allowed to watch movies (not even animation ones like The Toy Story), listen to secular songs or follow comic superheroes. I watched my first movie only when I was 17, and that too, without the knowledge of my parents.
Today, I watch movies, go to the theatre, listen and play secular songs and follow comic superheroes - all without the knowledge of my parents. My childhood was not the way I would have wanted it to be.
Oh my goodness, that is too much pink for my eyes!!

It is okay, mate. It is not their fault. I have made my peace with whatever has happened. I hold the church responsible for what it did, it does and will do, to my parents.
I know for sure that, if and when I have a family, I will not go down this road.
