Merriam-Webster lists the plural as "lynx or lynxes." Traditionally the first one listed in the dictionary is preferred, but the second is permissable. I was not aware of this particular second one. I only knew the first. Learn something new every day (despite my best efforts, on the grounds that ignorance is bliss... ;))

So yes, I suppose I have to allow "lynxes."

48 years old and had never had butternut squash soup...before today. Made some today and topped with caramelized leeks and ham.

heaven in a bowl, I tell you...heaven in a bowl.

That salad I see in the picture doesn't look half bad either. A far cry from the mound of iceberg lettuce with toppings and sauces that many salad bars offer.

One off-the-wall post and then I shall sleep.

-It's insanely difficult to juggle when I can't feel my hands.
-I have no idea why I went outside at this time of night to build a snowman, except that it just seemed like a good idea at the time. It Was actually a good idea, although it forced me to accept the fact that I haven't got any appropriate snowman-building gloves.
-My brain goes foggy when I decide to eat junk food for dinner and I think I won't do that again...for a few days...
-CatHerder's soup picture is either sideways, or else that's some amazingly thick soup. Or else MAGIC.
-People keep getting annoyed with me that I never answer my phone, even though I call them back as soon as I realize they've called. My phone is always on vibrate, and I don't know why. I mean, I set it that way, but I don't get it. I think I just don't like phone noise.
-I don't actually have anything else on my mind...I mean, really, there's NOTHING there right now, but I like the clicky-clacky sound of typing, so I'm rambling away just to hear it some more.
-Oh wait! There is something else I was thinking! It's not actually important. I say that as though any part of this post has been important.
-I don't feel very well. I think it's ebola. Or else maybe malaria. Or plague. Actually, I think it's the flue, <---which is not spelled like that.
-The quote for the night (I have no idea who said it or if I'm even quoting it properly) "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt"- I'll have to keep this in mind next time I feel the urge to post utter nonsense. However, it's too late for that tonight.
-And on that note, goodnight CC Land.

Random thing I've been thinking about over the past few years, but obviously have no knowledge.
I want to own my own bakery one day!
Ok I said it :p

Or just go to culinary school, hahaha.

I'm bumping this thread because it's in danger of sliding off the first page.
Also, it's a warm-up exercise.

Oh don't worry, THIS thread will always be dug up from wherever it has slid. :D

In local news... I had blue cheese dressing in my breakfast, cheese in my lunch, and a thick slice of cheeseball on my sandwich for supper. This morning I awoke far too early with sinuses that hated me. And it's my own fault.

So what did I have for breakfast today? More of what I had for breakfast yesterday. AND IT WAS GOOD!

That reminds me... Roh_Chris, you have more than once shown pictures of a standard meal where you live. Everything comes in its own separate little bowl. I'm curious... who washes all those bowls? Does a restaurant hire three dishwashers for the lunch crowd? I ask because I used to work at a Taco Bell, and all the dishes we had to wash were the pots that hold food on the hotbar line. The customers got their food in throwaway paper and plastic dishes. And the dishes we had to wash still piled up with alarming rapidity. So I can't imagine working in a restaurant where each customer goes through seven or eight bowls per meal that have to be washed.

The restsursnt hires people to wash it all. They are usually paid a pittance. In homes, it is either the dishwasher or the maid or the household -usually it is the wife or the daughter-in-law (just a sick, cultural thing that women should only be in the kitchen).

In my home, dad and mom cook and wash the dishes together. Lately, we have hired a maid to help because mom isn't so well.

-8 degrees this morning. The high for today is supposed to be 5 degrees, which is not actually any different than -8. I have to wear the same amount of layers to go outside at 5 degrees as I do at -8. And at 10 degrees. And at -10.

I think the temperature should be forecast as follows:
90 degrees and up- too hot, dress accordingly and sit in front of the air conditioner
70-89 degrees- hot, but not so hot you want to crawl out of your skin
50-69 degrees- perfect outdoor temp, enjoy it while it lasts
30-49 degrees- hoodie and boots weather
10-29 degrees- Chilly, wear a coat
-10-9 degrees- Brr, coat and gloves and hat are needed
-20- -11 degrees- Stay inside, your car probably won't start anyway
-50- What is this, I don't even...

It was 45 last night and I was wearing shorts. It didn't feel that cold. Maybe because we have very low humidity here.

Er, MissCris you forgot to mention the weather forecast for 120 degrees. That's the peak summer temperature in my city.

The coldest temperature in my city is about 75 degrees (at nights during Dec-Jan). I think I would freeze if I live in a place where it goes below 60 degrees.

45 doesn't feel that cold here, either...in fact, if it hits anywhere near 40 during the winter, people walk around in t-shirts. But, it's still cool enough to get away with a hoodie :D

YUCK, 120?! Ugh, that's horrible. I think the hottest it gets here is right around 110, which is bad enough.

The coldest it's ever gotten in the town I live in is... -65, I think? That was a long time ago, though. Still, it's not uncommon for it to be -30 for a couple weeks every winter here, sometimes -40. When we have cold snaps like that, it's a huge relief to get back to even 0 degrees.

I'll take sub-zero temperatures over 100+ temps any day, though. I hate the heat, and I hate it worse if it's humid.
