Tongues is not, and never has been, a "makeshift solution". It is one of the nine manifestations of the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Paul says tongues will cease becomes when the perfect comes and the partial passes away. Tongues is the partial, which means makeshift.

While it's true that no Christian NEEDS to speak in tongues, God wants us to do it (1 Cor 14:5), and there are several benefits to doing it.

Paul wanted the Corinthians to speak in tongues. But, that was at a time when they had no New Testament and when everyone from out of town spoke a different language. That doesn't apply to you.

Acts 2 says a prophesy about tongues in the OT was being fulfilled as the disciples shared God's word to non-local Jews by means of speaking in tongues. After 70, that reason for tongues ended. There were no longer any Jews who hadn't heard the gospel, and the Jewish religion itself was made extinct by the destruction of the Temple.

You could go on all day telling me how worthless Pentecostal tongues are. For points, show me what good it is. I can't wrap my head around your belief that God's word is worthless, or not meant, for guidance, if it comes by means of tongues.

First, I'm not a Pentecostal, nor do I associate myself with Pentecostal denominations. I am a Christian who believes what the Bible has to say on the subject.

And many Pentecostals do speak in tongues. So do I.

They only benefits to tongues is what Pentecostals pretend it benefits.

I believe the benefits to tongues are what the Bible says they are.

I've heard many Pentecostals speak in tongues, and it has all been gibberish, not real. If you can really speak in tongues, how come you don't recognize fake tongues when you hear it? Also, if you're think they're really so spirit-filled, why do you go to a "dead" church, as the call it. It's bizarre that someone who believe Pentecostals are speaking in tongues wouldn't be attending a Pentecostal church, except for the fact that deep down you know their practice is fake or worthless. And. that is mocker of God.

There are plenty of non-Pentecostal preachers who fleece their flocks, too.

They were speaking in tongues, and when a person speaks in tongues, he does not know what he is saying (1 Cor 14:2, 14).

1 Cor 14:
4) He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

All the apostles did was to preach the gospel of the kingdom and there's only one gospel of the kingdom- it is not possible that they spoke of things they did not know for they knew the gospel very well.

And this is the 100th point against your false position of speaking unknown things.

The fact that tongues edifies the speaker means it is unknown to the listener but known to the speaker- it never implies that it is unknown to anyone and i repeat, there's no interpretation in your church or any church in the world. The gospel has been preached in all languages and what you guys are doing is blowing air out of your mouths, there's nothing new you are trying to say. If it is the mysteries of the kingdom of God, they are still mysteries.

Logic and biblical truth demands that the perfect is the completed bible.

God has given the law of Moses that men might see sin as personal. God has now given man the bible so that man might see that Christ is the only atonement God accepts for sin.
