Why me Lord,
What have I ever done
To deserve even one
Of the pleasures I've known?
Tell me Lord, what did I ever do
That was worth loving You
Or the kindness You've shown?

Lord help me Jesus, I've wasted it so
Help me Jesus I know what I am.
Now that I know that I've needed You so
Help me Jesus, my soul's in your hand.

Tell me Lord, if you think there's a way
I can try to repay
All I've taken from you.
Maybe Lord, I can show someone else
What I've been through myself On my way back to you.

1 Timothy 3:16
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was
manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached
unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

AH-HA! Now I get it!

Precious!
OH YES WE DO! :p Random, curious, nosy strangers on the internet WANT TO KNOW...What's up with that particular date?
If you or tourist want to share about it...
but if not you can tell me "GG! BUTT OUT!"
I will not be offended...
but I will probably be forever curious

I meant January 20, 2029. Hopefully a new and different president.

AMAZING!!! CONGRATULATIONS And on Thanksgiving no less...

11 years ago we got married on Thanksgiving day in Las Vegas, NV. So this anniversary will bring back lots of memories. Can't believe we met on this site and ended up married and so much time has passed. Yes, you can find someone sitting in front of a computer screen.

Again, CONGRATULATIONS To You Both!!! 🥳 🎉 🪅 🎊

If you want to make God laugh,
Tell Him about YOUR plans...
;)

I did hear God chuckle once in my head.... For whatever reason I was mad at him and I was walking across the parking lot toward my car and I said I'm not going to talk to you.... I hear a chuckle and he said what are you doing right now? I have to admit it struck me funny too and we laughed together as I headed for the car.

Whatever I was mad about melted away. God does laugh and find things funny.

Something I've always appreciated about @JesusLives and @tourist is that they have always been so gracious and kind to others.

I remember when they first started flirting on the forum and I was dealing with some things... My ugly green jealousy monster started to take over my heart, because I was like, "Wow, THEY found each other here... Why haven't I found anyone?!" (And you can probably guess why, having an attitude like that, lol.)

Well it got to a point where I felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to write JesusLives, explain my feelings, and apologize to her, because it was really a blessing to see their blossoming relationship. It modeled hope.

And she responded with nothing but compassion and understanding. She told me about the time she'd seen others happy and in love, and how she felt the exact same way that I was feeling at the current time.

She was full of grace and love and I will never forget how that response melted my jealousy away.

I also love that even as married, they continue to support and encourage us singles for who we are and where God is leading us, whether that includes marriage -- or not.

Thank you again, @JesusLives and @tourist! :)

My first marriage was stupid on my part as I got married at 17 and then I grew up and we grew apart and ended up in divorce 6 and a half years later. 35 years I was single. I dated but never found the one and I can remember questioning God about why and since I had been married if I even should think about getting married again. I didn't even know what to pray for in a relationship situation.

My first husband had remarried and had children, he passed away and then I met Tourist on this site and fell in love and he has been such a blessing and help to me as I am 70 now he is too but he is in better shape than I am and he helps me so much I appreciate God's timing for me and so glad we have each other to lean on as we age.

Thank you for your kind words I appreciate you too.

Your date of joining CC is about the earliest I have noticed, which prompts the question in my mind: Who are the elders on CC?

Anyway, I also appreciate the topic of your post, because we are concerned about our grown daughter and son still being single.
Our prayer has always been that they would find the right soul mate (because divorce followed by grandparents having to help
raise a baby seems to be such a tragedy), but at this point it appears that their (inherited) shyness will result in lifelong singleness.
Sorry, kids!

I know of at least one other member who has been here since about 1999, which was way before my time here. I know of a few who joined around the time I did.

However, most of the old-timers closed out their original accounts and have come back under new names. I've seen several names here that I would guess are long-time users that I remember, but for whatever reasons, are now here under different identities.

Back around 2014 and again somewhere around 2018, I met some core members whom I'm still in touch with today (and we try to meet in person every few years if we can.) Most aren't here anymore, but there are still a few lurking around. :)

I'm very sorry to to hear about your son and daughter having struggles meeting someone... Many of us seem to be in that boat now days. I don't know if it's God's will, or our own shyness -- probably a combination of many factors -- but I pray your children will be able to fulfill God's calling for them in the fullest!

I joined this site the first time back in 1999. My screen name was “Susana_Isabel”. I don’t know why I picked that name. I was 23 and maybe I thought it sounded cool lol. It was only chatrooms at that time and boy, those chats were running wild in the “Lounge”.

After a couple of years I stopped coming here, and didn’t get back until 2013 under the name “Susanna”, who was a real troublemaker. These days im a nice, old grandma who doesn’t fire up the threads.😊
