I never said he doesn't have bad taste in guys too. But the girls don't gossip to me about how he led them astray. Guys do.

You might try to make some cinnamon toast for breakfast! I got this recipe from a church cookbook (men's only section)! So make it at your own risk.

  • Take a single slice of bread (your choice) and place five pats of butter on each slice. The pats must be placed – one in each corner, and one in the middle. Think of the pattern made by throwing a single dice that came up five.
  • Sprinkle liberally with cinnamon and sugar!​
  • Place under broiler until bread is toasted to your liking.​
  • Never user more than 15 slices of bread for one meal!​

Well I have long said that I cook for one (week at a time). And it's true my menus are created weekly so it'll be something like tacos means I have a whole thing of 8 or 10 flour tortillas, shred a block of sharp cheddar, brown a couple pounds of ground beef, maybe some other fixings, and eat like 2 tacos a day every weekday. Or a big roast (or tongue or heart) or pot of soup/stew (yay slow cooker). Burgers, big salads, one skillet meals (usually involving tomatoes and italian seasoning).

This week is hot dogs and ham. Next week is bacon and corned beef. (I'm trying to go mostly carnivore for lent (which I realize is backwards of "normal" but I wanna get healthy and that's a low carb low sugar plan I can get behind) so right now it's pretty much all meat in one form or another).

This year I started a tradition of making the equivalent of sausage mcmuffin with egg at home for weekend breakfasts and my go to emergency food has been pizza (usually a couple frozen digiorno's in the freezer for such emergencies). And those are most of my current food habits, but one look at me would let anyone know I eat well most of the time.

I bake a pizza once a week and it is good for three dinners.
I cook a pasta dish once a week and it is good for at least two dinners and a snack.
The pizza and pasta ingredients are almost identical, except the pizza has more and different types of cheeses.


I have found it best not to store up food in my fridge or freezer. More often than not it simply goes to waste.

What I eat on my days off is quite different from days I work, since on my days off I go out for coffee and buy a breakfast burrito at the same time, which I have hours later for brunch, since I do not eat breakfast per se. That is when and where I have started getting my pizza/pasta ingredients also, as they have freshly roasted sliced chicken breast, crumbled feta, and sliced red, orange, and yellow peppers as part of their salad bar set up, even at 8 in the morning. Today I also bought some pumpkin seeds mixed with thinly sliced almonds, plus craisins, for a snack. That was very economic compared to everything else. They always lift the lid to look and see what it is, probably because it is so light? I dunno. I do wonder. I mean, I have been a fairly regular shopper there for decades. Still, they peek, even after I have told them what it is. LOL. At work I normally have a chicken soup with thickly sliced toasted sour dough for brunch. Trying to get more variety into my diet does not work well, and I am averse to food prep any more beyond fashioning a pizza or cooking pasta. I had a slice of pizza when I got home from work yesterday, and part of a leftover vegetable samosa from dinner with my daughter and her aunt on Sunday. After a rather lengthy nap I ate my second piece of pizza for the evening. Tonight is two more pieces of pizza; tomorrow and Friday will be pasta. Last Friday I thought it would be nice to have corn chips with sour cream, salsa, and guacamole as a meal, something I had not done for a while. I finished off the sour cream and guacamole with my burrito this morning. There are a lot of things I cannot safely eat any more since my surgeries 4-5 years ago. My body just does not function normally any more, and that's all she wrote...
I know what you mean, I remember the days I used to sit down and finish off an entire family meal, it would be like 3 medium 3 topping pizzas, 2 L pop, mc cain cake, ceasar salad, 10 wings and garlic bread. I don't think I could do that any more.

Hey Everyone,

We had a thread going recently about how singles -- with no one to put the rails on what we choose to eat, might have very... unconventional food choices for breakfast.

And how does this effect play out for all our other meals throughout the day?

For example, how about the social media trend of "Girl Dinner", which, according to a quick Google search is:

A small, often aesthetically pleasing snack plate made up of readily available foods like cheese, fruit, cold cuts, and leftovers -- essentially a "snack meal" as a quick and easy alternative to cooking a full meal. Typically associated with women sharing such meals on TikTok, the term is seen as a playful way to describe a simple meal with minimal preparation.

Now of course, this could extend to Guy Dinners as well.

I have to confess, I am not in any way a cook. I don't seem to have the skill, patience, or passion for it, and often survive on things I'm sure most foodies would burn me at the stake for! :ROFL:

But as much as I would love to splurge on gourmet dishes and baked goods, my primary concern is health and weight management. A wonderful lady at a church I attended back home once held cooking classes in her home, but I knew I could never make her amazing recipes. Being by myself, I would snack all day and devour everything in record time. This beautiful woman also admitted the struggle to us herself, even though she had a family. She told us that the previous year she'd lost 40 pounds; was working on losing 40 the current year; and if she could lose another 40 the next, she'd finally be down to her goal weight.

I know myself well enough to know that if I took up cooking and became good at it, I would find myself in the exact same dilemma as her. I also find that I generally don't like to eat just any one thing, but rather raid the fridge to produce a mini-buffet with a small amount of most everything.

And so, in order to try to maintain a healthy weight and blood test measures that won't make my doctor hiss in concern, last night's Girl Dinner consisted of a few bites each of:

1. Salad and two spoonsful of vegetable soup. (Bleh. I eat veggies out of necessity, not because I actually like them.) Added a few spoonsful of canned beans for protein.

2. One small piece of frozen pizza (about the size of my palm.)

3. Two forksfull of spaghetti with parmesan cheese.

4. Three tater tots and one fish stick.

5. Roughly 10 red grapes (which color of grapes are your favorite?)

6. A few handsful of chocolate chips (always my biggest downfall but I'm trying.) I eat chocolate chips instead of bars so I can literally eat them one by one, trying to cut down on the amount of sugar I consume.

One thing is for sure... If I ever get married, adjusting to new meal habits might be a bit of a challenge!

* Do set aside times for cooking things to freeze or meal prep, making for easy dinners throughout the week?

* How do you balance health and nutrition with things you actually like to eat?

* Do your eating patterns change much on day you have to work vs. a day you have off?

So, I work 12 hour shifts fri-sun. I meal prep for Friday lunch and dinner and Saturday lunch and dinner. For Sunday lunch I cook Saturday night. I'm 45 and literally just started cooking in the past 3 years. I'm not the best. Actually my chicken breast today, tasted like chicken jerky. Lol. Super dry! I just started my very first gym journey about 4 months ago so I try to eat a high protein diet. I am by no means a gym rat kind of guy. Breakfast is either eggs with cheese or oatmeal. Lunch is Maybe super processed fish fillets. Lol Or corn dogs. Dinner is usually meat of any kind with rice and usually broccoli. Yes meal prepping usually means the same thing 2-3 days in a row. It tends to get boring. What I lack is fruit, I don't enough fruit. But that's changing this week. Ooh what I also like is corn chips and albacore. I too try to watch my sugar intake.

That looks super good and not super basic like my meals.
It is actually pretty basic with the main part being the pasta that I cooked, and then I added everything
else you can see from the salad bar at WholeFoods, which I spoke about in
this thread (<= link). :)

lol, well cooking is a skill that definitely takes time to hone like any other skill, have you tried adding a little water to the bottom of the pan when when cooking chicken? check out the receipie section on here.
