I built these pillars with my own two hands
Built them up till I could no longer stand
The earth beneath my knees will shake
The foundation of the temple quakes
See me in my kingdom
I build on my own freedom
I make myself my own god.
despite my heart covered in sod.
pillars quake and break
foundations rumble and crumble
My God, my God, what have I done
my whole life's been overrun
breathe in me song of life
break from me the pain and strife
My God, my God, I'm left broken
My heart broken, and stolen
touch me, oh hand of grace
may my eyes see the light of your face
Started getting the idea for this at work last night while listening to a study on the book of Esther. The teacher spoke of King Xerxes idea that he himself was the "king of kings" using many of the terms to describe himself that we use to describe God. King Xerxes built his kingdom of sin with two hands, and bragged about it. This is my own story, of the sin I created for myself and loved, only for God to break it down, and for me to beg for His presence in my life.
