Sin is an offense against God, reason, truth, and right conscience, defined as a failure in genuine love for God and neighbor, stemming from a disordered attachment to created goods, and it wounds human nature, injuring solidarity. It's considered a deliberate act or desire contrary to God's eternal law, a transgression of His will.

Sin offends God.

Perhaps your command of grammar is not adequate for your purpose, but what you have said here is that sin is rooted in attachment to stuff.

That’s not sound, biblically or experientially.

Sin is what separates us from God, it's failing to meet or falling short of God's perfect standard.

The word "sin" is often associated with law. Most people to not think of themselves as law breakers. It might be more useful to use the word "selfishness" which may be a more relatable description of human nature without Christ. Selfishness can describe an extreme end of human behavior like theft and murder, but can also describe things like being annoying and arrogant.
