I am new here. I am looking for exchanging my thoughts on John McArthur‘s sermons, in particular „To late for Grace“. I wonder if there might be a GTY Chatroom. Thanks for your help.

In the 90's, I thought that John McArthur was the best thing since sliced bread. What I remember of him, in my opinion he was putting words in God's mouth.

I would like to hear opinions on McArthur. I heard kind of good things about him. I listen to Charles Koelsch recordings of Charles Spurgeon and got a bit of a feeling that McArthur is in that way sort of Calvinist maybe.

I was also listening to Jimmy Brown of Grace and Truth Ministries out of Tennessee. Jimmy claims he is the only person teaching the truth and says he likes McArthur except that McArthur doesn't preach against Christmas.

You sound a bit like me in that you wonder who is preaching the truth. I watched a video of Hutterites in Canada and thought they sound like maybe they preach the truth. But now I am seeing they try to live(which is apparently works) the truth. I am of the impression that McArthur is preaching Grace. I am only Christian since 25 May 2021 and self-proclaimed. Trying to figure out Christian requirements and who to listen to since 2017 -2018. 1971 Was first time I care about religion and was involved with cult Worldwide Church of God, Herbert Armstrong.

Welcome!

New members are having a very difficult time getting into the chat rooms, since the app has not been updated, and been removed from the Google app store. It was problematic even before then, though. Grace to you chat room? Hmmm. Ya never know! Johnny Mac's program airs on kari55 radio, which is also online if you care to listen to him and/or other expositors and teachers. Home - KARI 550 AM

PS~ if you do get into the chat rooms, unless you donate to the site, mic preference is given to those who do.

Welcome to the CC Forums, brother Ben. That would make for an excellent thread on the Bible Discussion Forum.

Grace To You! (y):coffee:

Bah - Humbug! :devilish:
Hey where you been? Ever heard of Jimmy Brown of Grace & Truth ministries in Tennessee? He is here in Chicago on broadcast tv and maybe cable? He says he is the only person in America teaching the truth and he says MacArthur is ok except he won't teach that Christmas is pagan.

Nice to have you joining the fellowship here at CC and welcome to the Forums! I listen to about a dozen preachers but not familiar with McArthur. With the different impressions of him given here, it would be interesting to start a Thread about him. May God bless you and your family!

I had heard just the opposite; that McArthur was a salvation by works guy; "Lordship Salvation".
I'm still not sure what Calvinist's believe. Still having hard time getting things sorted out. My pea brain is overloading.

Is it possible that the chatrooms have been empty for some days by now? I can get in each of them, but I find no people in any of them.
Does anyone know what happened and what to do? Thanks!

Calvinists believe that men cannot choose Jesus as their Lord and Savior. They believe that babies come into this world with the choice already made for them. They believe that some are born predestined to go to heaven and the rest are born to go to hell without the option to come to Jesus. It is complete Paganism and diametrically opposed to the Gospel.

Hi Oyster67, I listen to Charles Spurgeon and almost sure he is a Calvinist and sounds ok to me. Your statement has me a bit concerned. But I have to check on this and I am a little disturbed right now.
