To me serving God is doing everything I do, but doing it with integrity. It is telling God thank you for giving me my job before I get out of the car and head into the building. It is getting to work on time, and not taking extra breaks (even though I could get away with it!) Serving God is asking Him for help when I am faced with a situation that I don't really know how to handle on my own. It is coming home to a house full of dishes, dirty clothes and dust, but instead of focusing on that I focus on my family for the few short hours I have with them. Serving God is telling my husband 5 things he did well today, instead of 5 (or 10) things he did wrong. It is whispering to my daughter when she is making me very angry instead of yelling at her, and it is stamping my foot instead of kicking the dog. It is seeing the good in people, seeing the beauty in life, and going to bed at a decent hour so I can wake up refreshed. It is drinking water instead of soda to keep this temple healthy and strong. It is walking up the stairs instead of taking the elevator. It is doing things as well as I can, but giving God the credit for my great ideas--He's the one that blessed me with this intelligent brain after all. It is telling the cashier that she has a pretty necklace, and learning the name of my garbage man and thanking him for the work that he does. Get the picture?
There are a million ways to serve God everyday. These are just a few.
Be blessed.
