I used to cut myself, it was really calming for me. To stop was really hard, because it was my main coping mechanism. When I became a Christian I stopped cutting because the fear of bringing in dark spiritual forces into my life was stronger than my urge to cut. My church had taught me that I would attract dark spirits if I were to self harm. This was and Is my worst nightmare.

I can confirm that the nowhere in the Bible does it say that you will attract dark spiritual forces if you self harm. But I guess it worked for me.

I wouldnt go that approach though, Its fighting a habit with fear, and fear sticks around. It adds distress to distress. I would say that you should try your best not to stop, but extend grace to yourself as you fail.

It will also help if you try to develop good coping mechanisms as well if you havent, exercise, pastoral conseling, christian yoga, grounding practices, self soothing techniques. None of these things will work instantly, but they will help as you do them regularly.

Obviously pray, but im sure you already know and do that.

I also would like to ask, what cause your cutting? Are you struggling with metal health related problems?(if you are struggling with these things chances are your nervous system is shot)

I know I do, anxiety, cptsd, depression, all of the above. Theres no shame here for you:)

Spiritually aware teachers I know who work in these areas it is a demonic attack, that is releived when the person cuts, only to come back later and bring another attack to get the person to repeat so the person believes they are getting relief.
Spiritual attacks are not cured by non spiritual means, speak "Demon be gone, in Jesus name". Sounds like this one is heavily entrenched so perhaps may take longer.
If you take this in I and others here would join you in commanding this to leave.
Not really any such thing a Christian yoga, demons look for the body position that gives them permission to enter.

What youre talking about is the doctrines of the deliverance ministry, which has little to no actual support outside of twisting of scriptures. I personally do not partake in these beliefs, but youre more than welcome to advertise them.

It isnt a bad idea to talk to a pastor and see if there are spiritual sources to the habit, but "come out in Jesus name", this doesnt always work. Not everything is caused by a demon. We've over spiritualized everything and its causing harm to the body.

Now Christian yoga would be up to individual conscious, yoga poses are simply stretches, genuinely. Many of the poses you would see in yoga you have already done before if you've learned stretches. Ever lunge? Thats a yoga pose friend.

Now what wouldnt be okay to include yourself in would be the chants, they are what's used to sync up with the spiritual forces and what not.

I would even go as far as to say that avoiding the breathwork may be good as well.

Now I wouldnt even do yoga from a secular side, given that many will most do not see the spiritual aspects and they're bound to have some type of bad spiritual practice in them

I would try yoga from a Christian, that combines stretches and prayer to God, no chanting or breathwork. The chanting is the main concern.

No, that is not what I am sharing with you.
We are to take all things to Him first, before responding, your response indicates you did so by your own understanding, and not taking it to Him for His guidance.
Jesus modeled how the Father desires we live, He only did and said what He saw the Father do and say, and this by Holy Spirit He received from John Baptist and imparted to the 12, and they to the 70, and on and on unto today.
Probably won't respond to you anymore since you seem to already know everything.
If you want to stay tormented He will allow it as it is your choice, if you want healed, restored and blessed, as is His desire for you and all, give Him first place in all things.
best wishes

James 1:14-15, “But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.” The enemy will tempt you then if you give in to the temptation he turns and condemns you for your actions. So there is demonic influence behind addiction; every addiction. So you get hit twice. Im not saying demonic possession, I'm saying influence. We are all tempted, all the time. And Carlyw, I am sorry that you were treated like that by your church. Good intentions don’t always bring about good outcomes. if you follow the example of Jesus you can’t go wrong. There’s not a demon behind every tree but they are out there and have assignments to carry out against the body of Christ. But they do respect the name of Jesus when spoken by a person who is a believer and understands their authority in Christ.
And btw, yoga was born out of Eastern religion so I personally think it’s dangerous. Please be careful…

I can understand your concern, I appreciate it. I have talked and sought pastoral advice regarding Christian yoga. I am of the opinion that stretching and prayer isn't bad, and they were fine with it as well. I was advised to stay away from any teacher that does mantras, manifestation, energy alignment or breathwork/chanting. The stretching and prayer was okayed though, which most Christian yoga practitioners stick to those two things. Just as the world has many pagan influences, we can take the good and avoid the bad. This Halloween we will be handing out candy, and congratulating kids on their cool costumes. I'm a very "don't throw the baby out with the bath water" kind of person.

Well, I can tell that you’ve done your homework on the yoga thing. I guess you may think I’m pretty stuffy about Halloween, but we don’t indulge. I just don’t see a reason for involving myself in a holiday that celebrates death. Sorry…

I can appreciate that! Its of a matter of conscious for sure:) your views around Halloween are very respectable.

thanks for aknowladging my research regarding yoga lol, I look deeply into everything! I do not act fast, I research and wait until I can feel comfortable participating in things, especially when they've been spoken against. Just around a year ago, I wouldnt have had anything to do with most holidays, my opinion has changed as ive delved deeper into history and the scriptures amongst other things.

My goal is to honor God, and to seek him first, though some do not believe I do such things, thats okay. To each their own.

Well kid, everyone walks in different amounts of light depending on how long and deep their relationship is with Jesus. We’ll have to agree to disagree. I think when we stand before God to give account many of us will be surprised at what we thought may or may not have been good/bad, in or out of Gods will, etc. we are responsible to walk in the light WE are given and hold ourselves accountable in how we serve God. Blessings and peace to you.
