Everyone says the book is better than the movie - and it always is. There was a radio show that would replay old "The Shadow" series and I loved it and thought it was better than TV. Did anybody ever see the movie Shallow Hal? It was a Jack Black stupid movie but it somehow parlayed an important message. Sight - the ability to see with eyes - doesn't give us the picture. Our minds pick up the detail of a book and imagine the sequence of events. Because I knew The Shadow characters intimately I knew what they looked like having never seen them.
It's a tragedy, really, that Thomas - a disciple of Christ - had to look at the nail holes in the risen Christ's hands - because ultimately, his "sight" failed him if he never knew Jesus would not lie to him.
In this way, this CC site has given me vision. I've looked beyond a picture of a face and bypassed my usual quick determinations and prejudice and the apparitions I'm "seeing" are quite lovely, you bunch of CC women, you. Gentle in spirit; kind - with aching and pleading hearts just like mine, with fears and wisdom similar to my own. Only in my mind's eye, you're all a bunch prettier.
