Maybe the person you are talking to needs someone who is not 100% honest and needs someone who loves conditionally.

I’m just thinking of my own situation. The fellow in question is not 100% honest and I have no idea if he loves me unconditionally or not. Sometimes I think yes, sometimes, I think no. I love him unconditionally although I know he is a player. Not that I’m preening myself about that, though.

if a player needs another player, it's to prolong the game.

IMO prolonging the game isn't what's needed.
