I have a question for you Sabbath keepers.
Do you keep the Sabbath in accordance to Moses's instructions, in the tradition of the Pharisees in the time of Jesus, on by some other standard?

I like to take 1 day a week for resting my body and having spiritual rest by reading good books in relation to scripture. Once in a while there is an "Ox in the ditch." This year it's on Tuesday. Last year it was Monday. I'm retired so I can get away with that. Most people are forced to adhere to the Gregorian calendar. Resting on God's promises is good in every (any) case IMO.

AHHH but this is where people 'slip up....they seem to think that anyone not 'studied or educated in at least greek or hebrew is a 'numbskull and knows nothing.
They don't allow the Holy Spirit to have much say !
When we repeat scripture we 'speak the Words of God and if we don't understand we should ask HIM for enlightenment...not for some MAN to translate or interpret. It is better to stay 'simple than go up the wrong path.

Are you implying there is no other standard than the Pharisees ? or that Jesus could not follow any other than Moses ?

Amazing that people do not realize Moses received the Law from Jesus Christ........... Now Jesus has come to elaborate and make plain the law under grace for all. You said it! We must always ask our Father for understanding...this is what the Holy Spirit is for, teaching us.

Revelation reveals that the law of God in the most Holy Place is the standard of judgement in the end. Now that would be scary if it were not for two unchangeable facts.

1, Jesus death was for us all while we were Yet sinners and if we believe in Him we have forgiveness of sins.
2, Jesus resurrected and by the Spirit that raised Him from the dead we are made new and the law is fulfilled in us.

The devil is already judged so chose Christ.

If we neglect the first then there is no remission of sin.
If we neglect the second then we remain slaves to the Devil and sin continues to rule over us.

Both are facts of salvation and thus one cannot suppose that one can continue only in the first and neglect the second.

One is the finished work of Christ on the cross. the other the continuous work of the Spirit by Christ. Both are retained by trusting those two points. both are lost by unbelief.

As for me and my house, No.

That said the sages have a lot to say. That is why we train to test the spirit of the "teaching" by the perfect word of Elohim. This Word meaning the Messiah Yahshua and also the instruction, "Torah" of Elohim. With this renewed Torah, Yahshua Messiah guiding us to all truth in love of the Father comforting us by the Holy Spirit. The Word is meant to not only point out Sin, it is also to show us Messiah. His long suffering with us as well as all Israel, His love for the Father, His Holiness and now we know of His Mercy. He also by the testimony of Messiah has revealed a certain Hope of redemption to come and a glorified body without sin or death or pain. This and also His desire to worship the Father in Truth and In One Spirit. The truth of the Word is the truth about reality. If The word says Sabbath is the Seventh day that doesn't change because it is also written The Word Doesn't Change. I Love you, More than that Yahshua the Messiah Loves you and wants us all to return to the ancient path and to the beginning of all things to return to the Garden of The Kingdom.

But what exactly are those commandments? Not the law of Moses because His disciples had addressed that in Acts 15:5-30 and told what the Gentiles should abstain from for abiding in the Lord.

So what are His commandments?

And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.Believing in Jesus Christ as our Saviour that we are saved simply by believing in Him and believing in Jesus Christ as our Good Shepherd to help us to follow Him in being His disciples so that we can bear fruit and our joy may be full is the what the first commandment entails in believing in Jesus Christ for everything as the just can only live by faith in Him & His promises to us.

The second to love others is done by relying on Jesus Christ all the time, in believing Him to be our Good Shepherd to enable us to do that .. even to love our enemies when it is not in our nature to return good for evil.

So basically, looking to & believing in Jesus Christ in all His promises to us is how any one can obey His commandments for abiding in Him, thereby declaring our rest & hope in Jesus Christ for all things.

1. The 7th Day Sabbath is not apart of the Law of Moses
2. The 2 Commandments to love God and our neighbor are a summation of the 10. How do we love God? Instead of leaving it up to each person's interpretation on how to do this, we have the first 4 Commandments. How do we love our neighbor? Instead of leaving it up to each person's interpretation on how to do this, we have the last 6 Commandments.

So simple, its amazing

It is important to understand that elohim, small letter, means "mighty ones." In ancient times the people referred to a god as an el, and to gods as elohim......false gods until mankind, in part, turned back to the true Elohim in Abraham, thugh there were some other people who still believe in Elohim, they had wandered and changed the oral tradition for traditions of mankind.

Judge not in absolute. I have found there is a left side, right side and the middle ground to most views. The truth resides in the middle ground as a very narrow path few find.

The true Sabbath is no longer a shadow day in the Jewish week but a living Person!

Jesus fulfilled everything that God's faith celebrated since He rested from His works on the first Sabbath in Genesis. This is a type or shadow of Christ Himself too. Everything speaks of Christ!

The truth resides in the accurate preaching and teaching of the finished work of Christ - not in the keeping of a shadow. Jesus is the Truth.

( In saying that people have the liberty in Christ to observe any day or feast or eat and drink what they want but it is not for righteousness as Christ is the end of the Law for righteousness. We are not under the Law but under grace only. Get this backwards and we distort the gospel of the grace of God in Christ.)

I don't agree that we MUST keep the Sabbath since the Apostles changed the day and I DO believe in what the early Christians believed, as you know.

However, the commandment does say to keep Holy the Sabbath.
The Sabbath is Saturday.

So would this not be a "continuous" sin, like living in adultery, for example?

I don't know very much about this and am just Learning...

(I'm just saying that some questions could not have a yes or no answer.
Do we need to obey God does have a yes answer...)

I see what she means though.

If one believes that the Sabbath should be kept, but does not, to HIM it is a sin because it's a CONTINUOUS sin.

The law of the spirit of life in Christ, the law of love and the law of Christ Himself will stop us from stealing. His life is how we live now - not by a law.

How do we live now in the New Covenant if the Christian has died to the law of Moses, been released from the law and not under the law but under grace now?We don't need to live by the moral code in the law of Moses which says in Lev. 18:23 to not have sex with a animal. The law of Christ Himself , the law of love, the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus will stop this.

People often say to those that speak of the grace of God and that they are not under the law of Moses including the 10 commandments anymore that they believe they are without "laws" now.

Does that mean we can now kill people? Does that mean we can now steal?

The word "law" means "principle, rule, instruction".

We do have laws in the New Covenant.

They are exciting laws that bring life and wholeness to us all - because these are all Christ Himself in us. Jesus fulfilled the law.

The law ( which the 10 commandments were a part of ) was a mere shadow of the real thing which was Jesus.

Read the law to see Jesus in it and to know that Jesus did that for us and His life in us now leads us in all things. Those who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God.

We now live by:

1) The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus. ( Romans 8:2 )

2) The law of love ( Romans 13:10 James 2:8 )

3) The law of faith ( Romans 3:27 and the law of Moses is NOT of faith - Gal. 3:12 )

4) The law of liberty in Christ Jesus ( James 1:25 )

5) The law of Christ - which is Christ Himself in us. ( Gal. 6:2 )

We can trust the Holy Spirit and the life of Christ Himself in us to lead us in all affairs of life. We don't go back to the law of Moses that were a shadow of the real thing which is Christ in us.. Jesus is more then enough.

Yes...we glory in the laws that we have in the New Covenant because they are all Christ Himself living in and through us. ( Gal.2:20 and Col. 3:3 )

Get this wrong and we create a religion which really nullifies the grace of God from operating in our lives like it was meant to.
