I do know they have been reporting that people that had not attended church before were coming in and being saved. That to me is a major signal of a revival. Not going to say there were some Pentecostals there worshiping as they do. And others in their own way. But when I look at revival I want to see how the community around is affected. Part of that is people being saved, not just church hopping.

He forgets that with the 144000 jews, the 2witness and the many martyrs, there will be a revivial of thousands during the tribulation period..
My father has always said when speaking that people will always come to see a fire. Set your house on fire (dont really) and see how many people come out to see the fire. The same goes with a revival. And it has been true people have come from all over to see the move. I believe it's of God.
A friend on my FB page posted this photo. Imagine if these people take what they experienced back home at it continues a movement. Already 20 other colleges have said they are experiencing the same thing. We need to pray this continues.
Fire has been a reocurring thing for me lately especially since last night when I was kneeling before him on my knees and he said spirit of elijah holy fire anointing.
Even just watching some of the testimonies I have I felt this fire blazing inside me and the holy spirit is likened to wind and fire interestingly enough and this is just a random thing here but even before I was saved when I was into spirituality but not God out of the four elements water earth fire and wind that people attribute to themselves I always felt connected to wind and fire the way the two interact with each is amazing they compliment each other the wind fans the flame the flame rises and begans to consume everything and yet when it is all brunt everything grows back greener and healther than before.
This is an act of God it is creating a fire in the world people are overflooding the town to get a tatse of God's glory they are hungry for him

I do remember in that 'revival' I referred to, that you kind of got the feeling if you did not latch on, you would be left out and of course, a little older and wiser now

There was alot of showmanship by the person conducting the revival and people just were so excited and it was all wonderful; except it wasn't really.A revival is not how we feel. Feelings are up one day and down the next and as someone once put it, if you make the analogy of a train, then feelings should be the caboose and not the engine.
Absolutely something to be considered. Agree we are not independent and do not have the Old Testament prophet calling.

I was a young lad in the late 80s early 90s. "Revivals" seemed to be all the rage back then but I never paid them much mind. Most of the new books were simply rehashings of other, more popular books. "Experiencing God" was popular at the time. And then came "Purpose Driven Life". Unknown authors sought to capitalize on the popularity of the other books and so many copy-cat books were created. (mind you, I had no use for either book).
As I matured and began to know what to expect when God works and builds and moves, my interest in the revivals simply dried up. I now see them as either 1) events generated by emotional hooks and music (typically always involved and in excess) or 2) God's legitimate move to get the attention of otherwise lost people or apathetic believers. As I wrote earlier: God forbid I should need a revival to take the Lord seriously!
I'm sure my beliefs about the legitimacy of revivals has been skewed since I have matured with conscious awareness of the Spirit living in me. There is no thought in my mind that I should need to travel to "meet Jesus, or God, or the Spirit". Of those who do I think "How sad. Someone should teach them that we were designed to carry the grace of God as a normal part of our new life in Christ." I mean, this is Kingdom 101 stuff, and so many professing "Christians" seem to have no comprehension of even the most basic principles of living as a son of God.
You seem to give up when things push the edge of the envelope of your understanding.
Truth is only available to those who are willing to question what they think they know.

As for myself, I prefer good solid teaching over much of what goes on and is accepted as God 'moving'. There really is nothing new under the sun as Solomon said. Sadly I would agree that many do not really grasp Christianity 101. Many throw caution out the window and think if it is happening in church, it must be good.
Sometimes it is but sometimes it isn't.

I think teachers who have made people think they have to always be "on fire" have done them a great disservice. Yes, we should always have joyful hearts in the Lord; but we don't always have to be fired up. That's not the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit leads us to the truth and empowers us to share the truth with others. Do you think Paul was always fired up in the "spirit" when he knew he was about to get his head bashed in for preaching the truth? He says in 1 Corinthians 2:3 "I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling."

that is an interesting perspective because I have also heard from other and many young people saying the need for Jesus and repentance and following the lead of the Holy Spirit and the word of God. I did see one video of a young man talking about what I will call a non-conformity. He talked about having no structure and kind of being free coming out from under the " denominational" rule. he did not know what he was talking about clearly.
Im mot commenting on the asbury thing but I wanted to touch on the being on fire thing your downgrading and while it may be in a negative attitude towards it you did make a good point as being on fire in the sense of being in a constant state of a spiritual fire is simply not how it works even with how amazing it can be to filled with that fire it doesn't mean it is a constant thing it will burn you out and this is when it is time to take a rest and be still and know him seek him soak in his word and his waters.
But a person who is on fire is not one who is filled with that spiritual anointing it is one whos fire burns for him in their heart a person like that has a zeal for him that becomes their nature it is something that drives them and is something that seperates them from the casual believers
"Christian homosexuals???" There is no such thing. The name Christian means you're a disciple of Christ, or Christ-like. Did Christ teach homosexuality is okay? Does identifying as gay make you Christ-like. Caleb's revelations don't really surprise me but my hat's off to him for presenting them. It's about time someone has the courage to call it like it is.
