There is a point of view that the church has replaced Israel as God's covenant people. This is not Biblical. Romans chapters 9-11 go into some detail on this subject. Paul's conclusion is (11:25 & 26)

"I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers, so that you will not be conceited: A hardening in part has come to Israel, until the full number of the Gentiles has come in. And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written.........."

God brought the nation of Israel into being. 600,000 Israelis defeated 40 million Arabs. One nation, born in one day (Isaiah 66:8), defeated six well established nations that surrounded her. Nearly 77 years of conflict has only made Israel stronger. Much of the world hates Israel, only because Israel belongs to God and the world hates God.

We should be praying for peace for Jerusalem. Many Israelis are seeking God and many are turning to "Yeshua", the true Messiah. This is more confirmation that we are in the last of the last days.

If you want to know more, I suggest that you check out Derek Prince. He has many youtube videos. He was living in Jerusalem when independence was declared. He had a Hagganah commander billeted at his home. The testimonies of Israeli soldiers are amazing.

The restoration of Israel is miraculous. The survival of Israel is miraculous. The salvation of Israel will be miraculous. The church is grafted into Israel. The church has not replaced Israel.

Hebrews 7:18-10:1 teaches that the NT has superseded the OT not by replacing it but by transforming it into what God's people have always been: those spiritually circumcised by faith in God/Christ.

However, does appear that the physical nation of Israel plays a part in politics before the end.
