I grew up as a Christian attending church each week, and when I was a teen I was so involved with the church going to bible study, alpha, volunteering with youth, volunteering with homeless. Though I always felt on the outside of the church, unfulfilled and had shared some personal things with my pastor for him to respond pretty awfully.

I distanced myself from the church and God, made some poor decisions and have had some poor mental health to go along with it.

Fast forward to today I am seeking God in the bible, something I had not done seriously and figuring out what it all means to me before I open myself up to a church. I felt like joining an online community would be a nice first start to shared thoughts and beliefs.

Please say hi, I don't know many Christians nowadays 😆

Glad you signed up! Sounds like you're on a good path to maturity. That personal relationship with the Lord is the key to it all.

Welcome. People will let you down, even supposed Christians. God will never let you down. Christianity is a personal relationship with God through Christ. I've been saved 53 years. I've met and come to know believers who are amazingly loving, caring and kind. I've met pastors with hearts of stone. And pretty much everything in between.

The key is to stay close to Jesus. If you sin, confess it immediately. Start each day with prayer and study the New testament. I suggest that you start with the gospel of John. If you have yet to receive Christ as saviour and Lord, now is the time to do it.

Matthew 13:1-9
New International Version

13 That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. 2 Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. 3 Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. 9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.”

welcome.

Thank you for bringing that church to our attention! As we support a church of serving the community and one another just as we support you! Glad to have you and make your interest known! A slim chance it would not be addressed here.

1 Corinthians 12:12-27
New International Reader's Version

12 There is one body, but it has many parts. But all its many parts make up one body. It is the same with Christ. 13 We were all baptized by one Holy Spirit. And so we are formed into one body. It didn’t matter whether we were Jews or Gentiles, slaves or free people. We were all given the same Spirit to drink. 14 So the body is not made up of just one part. It has many parts.
15 Suppose the foot says, “I am not a hand. So I don’t belong to the body.” By saying this, it cannot stop being part of the body. 16 And suppose the ear says, “I am not an eye. So I don’t belong to the body.” By saying this, it cannot stop being part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, how could it hear? If the whole body were an ear, how could it smell? 18 God has placed each part in the body just as he wanted it to be. 19 If all the parts were the same, how could there be a body? 20 As it is, there are many parts. But there is only one body.
21 The eye can’t say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” The head can’t say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” 22 In fact, it is just the opposite. The parts of the body that seem to be weaker are the ones we can’t do without. 23 The parts that we think are less important we treat with special honor. The private parts aren’t shown. But they are treated with special care. 24 The parts that can be shown don’t need special care. But God has put together all the parts of the body. And he has given more honor to the parts that didn’t have any. 25 In that way, the parts of the body will not take sides. All of them will take care of one another. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it. If one part is honored, every part shares in its joy.
27 You are the body of Christ. Each one of you is a part of it.

Psalm 95:6
New International Version

6 Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;

Matthew 16:26
New International Version

26 What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?

Psalm 150:4
New International Version

4 praise him with timbrel and dancing,
praise him with the strings and pipe,

Matthew 28:19
New International Version

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Matthew 7:13-14
New International Version

13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
