I listen to a lot of music and lately I've been encountering a lot of religious themed metal songs most surprisingly positive, but I just don't understand why many people denounce it.

Well.. a lot of people think metal = bad always xD
Untill they actually look to the lyrics ^^
Happened to my grandparents too. They hated it..untill i showed the lyrics =o

Well Christian metal is relatively new style of music emerging. Most of the older people don't like it because they can't understand what it means. And personally for me I don't listen to it. Not because I think it's bad or anything I just perfer a different style of music that's all. As long as it's God honoring I don't think it's bad. :D

Oh no I didn't mean Christian Metal bands, I meant Regular I noticed positive religious themes in bands like Disturbed, Avenged Seven Fold, System of a Down, and others.

Grey, those bands may have bits and pieces of Truth, but if they aren't coming from a Christian perspective, you're not going to get the whole truth.

I find it hard to believe SOAD has "positive religious themes" though. The last song I heard by them wasn't very good...

I realize that yes many Metal bands look Verry Creepy on the outside but im listening to a SOAD right now and the ending lyrics are "Father into your hands I commit my spirit."

Try Kill Switch Engange and All that Remains.

All That Remains is amazing

Extol is a good christian band. Quite heavy, but many clearly christian lyrics.

Most secular Metal is about bad things, and the songs are about sad things you know.
But last I was on a Festival in the Netherlands, the Flevo Fest.
And there I heard an metalband, Holy Bible(HB) They have great songs, about de Glory of God and other things, they souns like Whitin Temptation etc.

ohhh nooo. this had not crossed my mind until you said that.

could New Age bands possibly creep within the Christian label????? O_O

I feel that Rock & metal music is okay to listen as long as it does not have bad lyrics like "Die" or something...
Christian rock music is not bad....well at least i dont feel it is. As long as its prasing God its good because instead of making bad music about sexuality, drugs, & sad things they make prasing music to the Lord Jesus Christ =)

For example listen to Hero - Skillet
I just found out about thatband & i really like recently made Skillets songs.

Skillet is awesome.

Now this is my personal conviction. And I don't push it on anyone else.

I don't think it's wrong to listen to positive secular music. There are many Christian bands that go under a secular label in order to reach a sect of people that some bands, like Skillet for example, may not be able reach. Those bands are good finds.

But for me, God has told me to be careful. If He's not behind those lyrics, who is? If God didn't inspire those words, who did? The devil. I have to be careful what influence is going into my mind. Music has great influence on me. It can easily change my emotions. I don't want it negatively changing other things about me.

Well, Kill Switch Engage is technically secular, but if you take a look at the lyrics they sound Christian. Well actually some of the members are Christian too. :p

btw, This are the song from the band I listen to and like. I'm pretty sure there are other Christian sounding songs that don't like. Also, I'd be careful going to their concerts, I've heard they swear durning them. Not sure if that's true or not though.
