Recently I've been reading the Bible with background music. I can hear TV murmers on each side of my apartment. I have my radio on the classical music station; the high frequencies in the classical music are really helpful with getting rid of unwanted noise. I prefer quiet, of course, but that's not really an option in the evenings. I would only play music without words while reading the Bible, as I cannot concentrate otherwise. Does anyone else read the Bible with music on? What are your experiences?

Waking up early is not possible as I work late and so sleep later. Does anyone else read the Bible with music on? What are your experiences?

I do enjoy reading the Bible with instrumental Christian music playing in the background .
For me it’s because of the ringing in my ears when it’s too quiet. Also if the music has vocals I get distracted and start to sing along lol 😂.
So I just pull up a YouTube channel with hours of instrumental Christian music and read .
It’s quite calming and I can read for hours.

Audio Bible is a game changer. Numerous free apps for that with many Bible versions to choose from. Plug in some ear buds or wear the head phones and get going. I learn better when the material is set to a rhythm and I find spoken words tend to have a cadence to them. Give that a try. You'll find you can get through hours of Bible material this way without having to sit and stare at pages nonstop.

I prefer Instrumental Music when reading the Bible. That way I am not distracted by the words if someone is singing, and I can concentrate on The Word.

Hello again @TheIndianGirl, our senior pastor (father of 9 :)) uses movie soundtracks as his "white noise" when he studies. He doesn't want classical music, Christian music, songs with words or too much of a beat, or any other music that he would recognize and be distracted by, so he started listening to movie soundtracks and they seem to do the trick (y)(y)

For years I would read the Word with gospel music playing in the background. No other music would do for me.
Since the vision has failed to the point of needing to use the "read aloud" options here and where ever it is availed, I do not……..the sounds conflict.
Now it is true I always read the Word aloud under my breath when enlarged enough, the read aloud is just that, loud, so even adjusted it interferes with the music.
I began reading the Word aloud in 1969 when I realized the Gospel is to be heard by all, even the creation Praise God in Jesus, Yeshua, amen.

I find background music distracting. I'll end up concentrating more on the music (even soft instrumental) than on what I am reading. It's odd, because I enjoy a wide variety of music and have a large collection.
