But aren't we supposed to be baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost and then walk in the Spirit according to all the major translations? Is there a difference there?
You can compare many versions together using BibleGateway.com. To your question, no; most modern versions use “Spirit” where the KJV uses “Ghost”. It’s simply a difference in translation choice, not a complex theological issue.

@Dino246 is giving excellent and biblical advice.

The moment we believe, we are baptized into the Holy Spirit. We are ALWAYS indwelt by the Spirit. But we can grieve and quench the Spirit......Losing our filling of the Spirit.
1 John 1:9 is our way back. Name and site any known sin to God, and He is faithful and just to forgive us of any human good or unknown sins.

We are then filled and walking in the Spirit again.

I concur with your estimate.

The Holy Spirit plays a vital role in the lives of believers, primarily guiding them towards truth, empowering them to live righteously, and offering comfort and strength. He also serves as a witness of Jesus Christ and a source of personal revelation.
Yes, indeed.

Paul asked those who had believed the gospel according to John the Baptist, which was based on the OT,
and rebaptized them in accordance with the NT Gospel. This event is not normative!

Again, I have read four translations of GW completely through taking notes on what HE SAYS in the margins,
learning to reject OSAS, so now I preach the following:

The Gospel kerygma proclaims GRFS, which calls for repentance and acceptance of Jesus as Lord, which is an all or nothing decision that occurs at one moment in time. The didache teaches God’s will regarding how saints or those who have been saved should live in order to be a good witness for Christ, which involves learning more of God’s Word throughout one’s lifetime. A passage teaching this truth is Colossians 2:6-7: “Just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord [kerygma], continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught [didache].” There is no qualitative difference between faith that accepts God’s saving grace at conversion and faith that accepts God’s working grace while walking/living (EPH 2:8-10, 2CR 5:7, RM 1:17), but only a quantitative difference as each additional moment passes–and of course faith remains non-meritorious during the saint’s entire lifetime.

The kerygma/GRFS should be every Christian’s creed, and only belief in this crucial truth should be viewed as a test for orthodoxy or heresy. As Paul wrote in Romans 10:9, “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Conversely, judgments concerning a person’s spiritual orientation or ultimate destiny should not be made on the basis of didachaic or secondary doctrines. (If any judgment is made, it should begin with a self-examination per MT 7:1&5, 2CR 13:5-8).

A major reason many Christians (e.g., Ouch) have not manifested the love and unity of God’s Spirit (EPH 4:3) as well as they should is because of failure to realize this truth. If they did, it would free them to speak honestly and fellowship without becoming unduly upset about relatively minor issues (e.g., WB). They would receive God’s blessing as peacemakers, who draw inclusive circles around people based on the kerygma rather than denominational lines between them due to didachaic differences. Jesus prayed for spiritual unity (cf. JN 17:20-23, “May they be one…”). Thus, unity regarding the Gospel is more important than accuracy regarding doctrinal details.

The normative way of stating the kerygma/GRFS in the NT is “Accept Christ Jesus as Lord” (as in 2CR 4:5 & CL 2:6). The main points of Christian orthodoxy implicit in this statement can be explained or elaborated as follows:
  1. There is a/one all-loving and just Lord or God (DT 6:4, JN 3:16, 2THS 1:6), who is both able (2TM 1:12) and willing (1TM 2:3-4, EZK 33:11) to provide all morally accountable human beings salvation or heaven—a wonderful life full of love, joy and peace forever.
  2. Human beings are selfish or sinful (RM 3:23, 2TM 3:2-4, CL 3:5), miserable (GL 5:19-21), and hopeless (EPH 2:12) or hell-bound at the judgment (MT 23:33 & 25:46) when they reject God’s salvation (JN 3:18, RM 2:5-11).
  3. Jesus is God’s Messiah/Christ and incarnate Son, the way that God has chosen (JN 3:16, ACTS 16:30-31, PHP 2:9-11) of providing salvation by means of his atoning death on the cross for the payment of the penalty for the sins of humanity (RM 3:22-25 & 5:9-11), followed by his resurrection to reign in heaven (1CR 15:14-28).
  4. Thus, every person who hears the NT Gospel needs to repent and accept God’s justification in Jesus as Christ/Messiah the Lord or Supreme Commander (LK 2:11, JN 14:6, ACTS 16:31), which means trying to obey His commandment to love one another (MT 22:37-40, JN 13:35, RM 13:9)—forever (MT 10:22, PS 113:2).
  5. Then God’s Holy Spirit will establish a saving relationship with those who freely accept Him (RV 3:20) that will eventually achieve heaven when by means of persevering in learning Truth/God’s Word/sanctification everyone cooperates fully with His will (JN 14:6, 17&26, RM 8:6-17, GL 6:7-9, EPH 1:13-14, HB 10:36, 12:1, JM 1:2-4).
Although perfection is not achieved in this life, the necessity of learning the didache in order to strive for perfection indicates the need for perseverance or to keep on learning and growing spiritually until we die physically (PHP 3:12-14). Thus, although learning any specific part of the didache is not GRFS, a person who does not “hunger and thirst for righteousness” (MT 5:6) or want to learn “every word that comes from the mouth of God” (MT 4:4) fails the self-examination Paul commanded and Jesus implied (mentioned previously).

If you know any preacher who agrees with this, then I agree with him.
What part of what I believe do YOU disbelieve?
(I trust you will read with an open mind all of the Scripture I cited before responding,
so we the discussion does not degenerate into verbal pejorative ping-pong--
as I notice you have a tendency to do. Thanks, I will wait patiently for a well-founded reply.)
You and I have nothing to discuss, you talk about you and your thoughts I talk about JESUS and HIS wor.

Do you know there is ONE BIBLE and just like men not liking what HIS word says they twist it to suit there needs, just like your baptist preacher, so when you read different translations of HIS word your just following those men. Since it's been twisted it's THEIR WORD NOT JESUS.

So I guess to answer the question that Paul asked you have YOU received the Holy Ghost IS A NO, is sad instead of being filled with the Holy Ghost and let JESUS lead you, you stand on your own prideful opinion and yourself.

The only preachers I know that would agree with you are the ones that follow you and not JESUS.

"What part of what I believe do YOU disbelieve?"

I don't believe you get the Holy Ghost as soon as you believe, why? IT'S NOT BIBLE so it's a lie.

I don't believe being water baptized is for show, why? IT'S NOT BIBLE so it's a lie.

Why would I?

Ping pong? I ask you to back up your words with HIS word and you can't and just deflect with a lot of taking.

If YOU REALLY WANT TO KNOW HIS WORD, you want to get the Holy Ghost. OBEY JESUS and get baptized in JESUS name to get rid of your sins and JESUS WILL fill you it's a promise.

Acts 2:38-39
King James Version
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

What is the purpose of the Holy Ghost today?
First it's a part of being reborn.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Acts 2:38-39
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

The promise is for all.

This is what he told HIS disciples in, Acts 1:2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

It's clear he will guide us.

John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

1 Corinthians 14
King James Version
14 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.

2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

I agree with everything you said with the exception of (and this is only my own question to myself at this time), when I read the full book of Joel, I'm left with the impression that the world was baptized with His Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost as a full baptism of man similar to the full baptism of the Earth when He cleansed it with the Flood. As through one man sin entered the world, through one Man came grace. I had nothing to do with either. Lest I should boast. Which brings me to the conclusion that we are not baptized and filled with His Holy Spirit after we believe, but rather already posses that Spirit. Thus, the moment we surrender and agree to accept His grace by faith through the hearing the Word of God, (Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God) then His Spirit is sparked, for lack of better terms, within and changes our entire thinking in the twinkling of an eye giving us a renewed mind as written. Then, we are led into obedience through Spirit guidance instead of our own thinking (Flesh) just as Christ BECAME obedient unto death. Leaving me with the question, why are we baptizing people if He must increase and we must decrease. Baptism seems like an act that I may boast in, that I gave my heart to Jesus. I accepted Jesus. I got saved on such and such a Holy Day that will be null in the end. I came to Jesus. I, I, I.
I don't want to steal any of God's glory. HE filled me with HIS Spirit when HE came to me to share HIS salvation. I was dead in my sin but was awakened by His Spirit, and not of my own doing. I just heard the kno

Right. So, what is the function of the Holy Ghost today? We're born of water when we were born of the womb. Then, we were born with the Spirit on the Day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was poured out onto all mankind as prophesied by Joel. Not of our own accord, lest we should boast.
Then, Peter, being filled with the Holy Ghost began to speak in tongues as the Spirit gave utterance. What is the purpose of the Holy Ghost today? The Apostles spoke in unknown languages and healed people through the power of the Holy Ghost. Why are people being filled with the Holy Ghost today and speaking in tongues when there's nothing to speak in tongues about? All prophecy has been fulfilled and the Word of God is no longer a secret. It's interpreted in every language on Earth. There are no miracle healings. If God wills a persons health to improve, then is it really a miracle? So I ask, what is the function of the Holy Ghost in todays church?

Sir, you are the one who will not accept how to be reborn, without being reborn what good is reading and debating HIS word?

I am close-minded I have made up my mind to follow what HIS WORD says not man. THAT'S A GOOD THING.

Brain washed? BY HIS BLOOD.

Hard-hearted, not true I listen and am humble to HIM and HIS JESUS disciples how else could I learn?

Judgmental, yep when someone goes against HIS word it is what it is a lie, It's my job to share HIS word and to show them where they are wrong. Some listen some like you don't.

Divisive, so is my daddy JESUS.

Popish, If I was catholic I would not tell you to follow JESUS but the pope.

If I was catholic I would not tell you need to get baptized in JESUS name to get rid of our sins.

If I was catholic I would not tell you had to speak in tongues to be reborn.

Do you know any catholic that do that?

Pride is a terrible thing, you think just because you read and take notes it makes you more qualified to share HIS word where all your doing is SHARING YOUR OPPINON which is going down the broad and wide road.

Why was Satan kicked out of Heaven? PRIDE.

You speak of what the didache says IT'S NOT HIS WORD, YOU HAVE A SANDY FOUNDATION.

What a good foundation? READ HIS WORD, since you know a lot of it READ the book of ACTS THE FOUNDATION OF THE CHURCH GET JESUS INSIDE OF YOU.

REPENT, then OBEY get baptized in JESUS name TO GET RID OF YOUR SINS and pray for JESUS to fill you with HIMSELF the Holy Ghost.

You want to be a wise man? Get JESUS inside of you and watch what he does in your thinking, he knows EVERYTHING.

You think yours so smart, you can't SEE.

ALL IN LOVE.

Everything you say needs to be applied to yourself.
From what I have experienced, you are a Pope wanna-be.
YOU are the one who refused to read HIS WORD in #458/487.

As I said, I have read everything you cited in four different translations,
taking margin notes in order to connect that with #458, and I shared
how historical Acts can/should be harmonized with the doctrinal epistles,
which you rejected, so I don't know what else to say unless you come off your high horse
and actually discuss the Scripture in #458 one at a time,
explaining why you disagree with HIS WORD, beginning with:

You speak as it's all true?

What a foolish thing to say, we are born of water when we are born of the womb.

JESUS speaking to NIcodemus, WAS NICODEMUS BORN naturally?

John 3,

3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

JESUS tells him verse 6, what is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

So JESUS we have natural birth and spirt birth TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.

If you not born naturally would you be able to READ HIS WORD?

If you not born naturally would you be able to BE REBORN? Did you notice the word JESUS used REBORN?

The Holy GHost, why would you say when a part of this is not true?

"Then, we were born with the Spirit on the Day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was poured out onto all mankind as prophesied by Joel"

Joel 2,
28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come.
32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call.

If we look at HIS word ONLY 120 WERE FILLED NOT ALL OF US.

Acts 1:15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)

What else did Joel prophesied? verse 32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call.

Doesn't that line up with this?

Acts 2:38-39
King James Version
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Why would Peter tell them to get baptized in JESUS name and JESUS WILL fill you with the Holy Ghost IF HE ALREADY DID IT?

So now two questions for you,
1. How do we get rid of our sins?
2. Why would you say we all have been filled with the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentocost?

I will warn you, Matthew 12:31-32
31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

You may have crossed that line?

Of course my answer for your question "what is the function of the Holy Ghost in todays church" stay the same.

I think it's clear you have never been filled with HIS spirit, have you been baptized in JESUS name?

So now 3 questions.

1. How do we get rid of our sins?
2. Why would you say we all have been filled with the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost?
3. have you been baptized in JESUS name?

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

What is the purpose of being filled with the Holy Ghost and speaking in tongues?

You would understand more if you were filled with JESUS the Holy Ghost.

What is the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Re "Why would Peter tell them to get baptized in JESUS name and JESUS WILL fill you with the Holy Ghost IF HE ALREADY DID IT?":

Because Peter was sometimes slow on the uptake, which is why Jesus reprimanded him in Matt. 16:23
and Paul reproved him per Gal. 2:11-14. IMO, you should apply these to your legalism re WB.

I've never heard anyone refer to Jesus as Daddy. We have a Father in Heaven that we cry Abba Father. No greater love hath a man that he should lay down his life for His brother. Jesus came to do the will of His Father. My Father. Your Father.

IYO, whereas IMO you are filled with BS,
and again (as I just posted) I hope you will apply the reproof of Peter by Jesus and Paul to your own retrograde legalism.

When did Jesus become the Holy Ghost? I thought He sent the Holy Spirit back as an helper.
