Racism is an illness born out of ignorance. Often passed down from parent to child, and/or learned from social interactions with other children. No one is born a racist. Many Studies have shown that children of different colors placed together will get along just fine. It is only when a "racist" teaches one or the other child of racism that they become such.
It is very unGodly! Any person professing to be a Christian and holds racist beliefs is a liar and not OF CHRIST ..... IMO
As for me, personally, yes, I have experienced racist speech and actions towards me. Being a potpourri of races....... German, Irish, Jewish, Native American, and Black; I have been hated by whites because of my Jewish and Black heritage and hated by blacks because of my German, Irish heritage...... Go figure.......
its funny the japanese and chinese didnt get along (japanese dictators actually wanted to take over the entire world at one point) ...but Japanese and chinese children get along fine
Germany was mortal enemy to the brits but germans I meet are friendly. Its actually the brits that native nzers are more wary of.

Australiand and Nzers have a rivalry over rugby. the springbok tour divided nz in 1981 over its racist policies, they wouldnt let any non white players into South Africa to play, (and our team was called the ALL Blacks) so nz protested and didnt want to let the springboks in when they toured here although some were for it and said its only a game.
Apartheid did end but South Africa was kicked out of the Commonwealth.
Born a Crime by Trevor Noah is an interesting memoir about being coloured or mixed in apartheid South Africa. I think all christians ought to read it as it has an inspiring faith story about Trevors mother

I had to deal with racist children in school too, after their parents. The indian children copped it from the chinese children, and the white children were sort of patronising to the chinese ... they seemed to act like all non white children were inferior and heathens. I think from the age of 8 they start imitating their parents attitudes and the parents dont want them playing with each other.
I dont know what was more prominent classism or racism, it can actually be a bit of both.

Talking of respect...what do you think of children being taught respect.
In most schools it seems respecting older people or the teacher, but I wonder if in some subtle way its about respecting people who are wealthy and a certain race (the ones that think themselves as in charge) as races seem to pull together as tribes or dynasties that lord it over other people who dont belong.
I dont think this happens in churches but it always happens in the world

I mean theres exclusive clubs and theres gangs which are pretty much the same thing, its just clubs are a bit more 'respectable'
Gangs are more likely to commit violence, but clubs can haze or snub others that dont belong to them

Hard to know what it was with no detail of what they wronged you with...but then love keeps no record of wrongs. Have you forgiven them or does it make you wary of dealing with anyone in this ethnic group now?
IMO, our schools teach acceptance, rather than respect. One is not the same as the other. Schools are busy teaching children that abnormal lifestyles are actually normal and children should accept them as such. Forget moral standards or respect. Not happening.

Normal is what is common, but thats just the case of the majority isn't it.
There will always be people who are minorities of whatever in any family, school, workplace.
What is a lifestyle anyway. Retirement villages have 'lifestyles'. is that normal? The rich and famous have totally different lifestyles from the poor and insignificant.
Since I've been in a few schools, some are open to the Bible and Jesus but others teach than Mammon is God.
Some schools that have muslim population, decide they don't want religious instruction or even values teaching that is christian based and say they want their own religious instruction so they get an imam or muslim teacher to come in once a week.
I've had children of all backgrounds in schools including Hindu, and muslim and atheist. In the end they are all children and need to learn how to make friends and get along, (social skills) as well as reading writing and maths. The ones coming from broken homes or their homes that are in the process of breaking up have it hard.
Many children are from mixed parentage now and that is common. As is not knowing who your dad is, or not seeing your dad for long periods of time.
In many schools they have a language week celebration but its hard to incorporate 20 different languages in one classroom. Some schools have bilingual units but I noticed while many are cultural proficient in one aspect, they can't actually read and write in it or master the other language. Assimilation is hard when your culture is being totally ignored though, or seen as exotic, other or a curiosity. Being gawked at or singled out makes people feel freakish and not fit in. For most of us DO want to belong and be treated as human.

If I recall my time in school we didn't wonder too much about our teacher's 'lifestyles' as well all went home at the end of the day it wasn't a boarding school. Some children did believe their teachers slept at the school but it wasn't a given that all teachers were married, actually many are unmarried (which was the norm for the profession in olden times) or that everyone came from the same background or had parents born in the country. I think the most that is taught in that respect is a kind of patriotism or nationalism.
In the US apparently all schools would swear allegiance to the US flag and say oaths and things. While in NZ the thing would be to sing the national anthem and also swear allegience to the Queen (as nominal ruler of the decaying empire, though now its changed) because we know that prime ministers come and go. In that sense, the English dominated NZ schools except for Catholic schools who revered the Pope. Catholic schools generally had Irish children in them. The whole rule Britannia thing does irk a lot of people because British rule could be cruel and unjust, and favours an wealthy aristocracy that is very out of touch with the common people.
maori children used to have their own schools where they would learn to read and write in Maori, (Native schools) but something happened to stop that (change in govt? funding?) and even Maori themselves dissuaded their own children from learning their own language in order to get ahead in Pakeha school where only English is spoken. For maori where their langauge is their lifeblood that left them reeling, and they were viewed by English as a 'dying race' which the Maori were NOT happy about. They didn't like to be defeated or wiped out like the Brits did to Indians. But thats the whole Rule Britiania colonialism thing again. Problems.
When the British Queen died I remember the day after the school I worked in had an assembly to acknowledge her but the children were very young and many would have no idea who she is or why she was 'our' Queen. But children were very curious and wanted books about her to find out why she was queen. I think the royal family as such is portrayed as an 'ideal family' to aspire to but basically they are just super privliged people who are human at the end of the day. They may claim 'blue blood' but I am sure its just as red as anyone elses...unless....they are really lizards or puppet people.
Prince Phillip was very racist but maybe it was a mercy he was never given the title of King as he would have offended anyone who didn't laugh at his 'jokes'.

it wasn't misunderstandings. 1 person stole a poster of mine that was of faye dunaway, another would always walk out after lunch without paying so my business partner & i would have to pay the bill, another performed lousy work on a job & it cost $1700 to fix it, another one still has an outstanding debt of $150 for a small job i did. all forgiven long ago. actually, it's a total of 6 people from the same ethnic group. i will assist anyone in trouble but i won't work for that race anymore.

yes some people only do business with family while others get scammed by their own families.
People put their prices up if you look foreign to them...or you dont speak the lingo.

I was reading a nannies memoir about a rich English couple who adopted two boys and left them with the nanny. The nanny was looking after them, one was eurasian looking and the other was white. when she caught up with them after some time away she found out that the couple had given away the eurasian boy and adopted a white girl instead.
The nanny felt absolutely betrayed.
I dont know the circumstances or why, but she felt it was just wrong that the white children were favoured. It could have been the eurasian child actually found his parents though.
Sometimes that happens.
