Wrong I'm not making an excuse for anything. I said that the punishment is pretty standard for the crime as it is, and the family feel that Justice is served.
I can't judge her heart as to whether she had an itchy trigger finger, she may well have been in genuine fear. You made that judgement. You assigned intent of the heart, and decided that the punishment is not enough, and that any attempt to understand what went wrong is an attempt to justify the crime. This is the judgement condemned by the teachings of Jesus and is sin.

Agreed. She failed seriously, and committed a crime, she killed someone, as a result.
The family feels that Justice is served, should we be offended in their stead, and demand more punishment, and drag this out further?
There is a lot to learn from this for a lot of people.

Why the family of the victim was not offended? They followed suit, the young brother hugged her himself. Why do you have any judgment rights greater than him, and the rest of the family?

While forgiveness is good on a personal level, it has to be separate, since in theory all citizens have the right to be treated equally under the law.
It is a strange case, I actually find it very worrisome that this happened the way it did.

Wrong again. I am defensive of a family but has suffered an egregious loss and has in The great Grace of God and with Holy Spirit residing inside of them, and has chosen to heal.
I am defensive of them because the egregious sin that is being committed against them by the media turning this into a political circus, end the self-righteous who want to take up offense in their stead, who are dragging this out rather than allowing this family to heal.

There is a lot to learn from this case. For now the circus of idiots needs to pull their head in and allow this family to heal.

The judge was black, are they trying to make the case that the black judge is racist against black people. I read the article and what I found is that 10 years would be a typical sentence for such a case. It was an unintentional homicide not a cold-blooded murder. She made a very serious and grave mistake thinking that she was in her own apartment after working and insane amount of hours.
There is a lot to learn from this case.
But the most important thing about this case is that the family of the victim felt as though Justice was served.

Exactly. As to why she was treated differently. They could not prove she murdered him out of malice or premeditated. I agree though with the punishment. With her being a cop you would of thought she would of handled better but that is assuming since A I have never been a cop and B I never I been faced with thinking someone has broken into my home. Nothing to do with race. But actually a beautiful example of how races can be Christ like in the midst of a culture that wants them to be constantly at odds.

You know it was the brother who forgave her right? The judge issued the verdict from the jury. All the judge did was give her a Bible and tell her to read the Gospel. Good gracious everyone let's get mad because someone spoke about God.....

There are places for Restorative Justice .... however the courtroom is not the place.

Courtrooms are for the presentation of the facts of the case, not emotions or spiritual guidance.

True. I'm tough on my stance for crime but I also know that in less our prisons have good rehabilitation systems then most prisoners released comes right back. And I for one know the power of Christ to change hearts. Our prisons should be centered around salvation. Even the death row inmate may deserve physical death but for a Christian that knows we all deserve spiritual death. Then even the death row inmate deserves the opportunity for salvation

You’re preaching against self righteousness while treading the waters yourself. There’s nothing wrong with speaking out against an egregious act, followed by law-enforcement putting the focus on the deceased having marijuana in his home, followed by a light sentence for a murder conviction. Mark my words, she will be paroled in five years. Five years for killing a man who was sitting in his own home minding his own business. But I digress, no one supposed to be upset about that because you say so.
