Willie, simply because what YOU did in YOUR life worked for YOU does not mean that YOUR way is "right" and everything else is "wrong".
Ending bullying is something that has to begin at home. Fathers could very well shoulder the responsibility of nipping bullying in the bud (that was awkward to type), by noticing the signs if little Timmy shows the signs of being a bully, and it could be addressed at home. We both know it's not, and don't think that I somehow believe in some sort of campfire-and-sing-along world where everyone gets along. You're not the only man who's "been around and seen things".
If you're looking for me to tell you that "you're right Willie", it isn't going to happen. I think your hypothesis is flawed, and I think the way you solved your problem was barbaric and didn't actually solve anything. What is the old saying...an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind?
