A brief update. She is now breathing on her own, her glucose has stabilized, and liver numbers have improved. She is receiving physical therapy to help her breathe better. She still needs her feeding tube. She still has a long way to go. Please continue to pray for her and her family. Her sister has not left her bedside.
I'm glad she's showing improvement.
I've been down this road before so
What I'm going to do is provide some information that might provide her a better chance for a positive outcome.
After you get a chance to look into this, you may want to pass this forward.
Tube Feeding Formulas.<
This is my personal opinion.
1. Compleat brand is not very good, but it might be the best that's in the hospital inventory.
2. Anything with Abbott Labs on the fine print on the back of the label is generally harmful. Their marketing has won them a monopoly in my area.
It's an evil dietician who feeds patients harmful formulas from Abbott Labs. You can quote me.
3. There may be other fairly decent formulas available that I'm not aware of, but only one commercially available is Real Food brand.
It has it's problems, and customer service was slow to respond in my experience. That's a big problem when a loved ones recovery is dependent upon the nutrition they receive. However, I would go for that and watch all of their company's YouTube channel videos. I'm not a fan, but it's the best I'm aware of.
They have a variety of meals available and I would get half of the best one and mix it up with a few others to offer variety to the gut Flora...if it were my loved one .
The best case scenario is that she be fed at home blended whole foods of ultra high nutrition content with proper essentials supplemented, minerals, vitamins, aminos, quality fats.
That is not very expensive when the caregiver seeks nutritional guidance and buys a blender.
That environment is normally best to be cared for by living family.
May the Lord get her home soon and bless her with a long life and good news.
