Derek Prince gives a very good word about what I have been trying to say about the first church I attended back in the early 70's.
The first 2 1/2 minutes is the best section.
Praise and worship are NOT the same thing even though a lot of churches say they are.
The graphics are sort of over the top but the teaching is sound.

The other day I kicked back in my recliner for a nap. After a few minutes my dog came and jumped up with me. He's a long legged fellow that stands just under 5 foot on his hind legs so part of him dangled off the foot rest. He laid his head on my right shoulder and faced away from my face. After another few minutes he moved his head to face my face - his nose was just a couple of inches from my nose.
I listened to him breath. Rather short breathes in and out. Then I felt his body relax more and he took a long deep breath, exhaled and went to sleep. All was right in his world. He was at peace, comfortable in my presence. Sometimes our worship can be like that - just at peace and enjoying being in the presence of our Father.

I have continued study on true worship and recently came across a teaching on worship.
To paraphrase the 1 1/2 hour teaching, thanksgiving and praise glorify GOD for what HE has given us -things- done for us -healings
among other things. But true worship simply adores the Father for who HE is - His nature, His charicture. Sort of like words spoken in private between spouses. Love wrords.

I continue to study and as I have mentioned ear;oer that praise is different from worship I was unable to find correct words to express what worship actually is. Post 26 gives a pretty gpod description of one way.
I'm confident that we all have people in our lives that we'd rather not be around. I suppose that's just part of fallen human nature.
There are also people that we truely love to be around. This also applies to being in the manifest presence of our Father. Some people love it, some don't.

When we move from praise to spiritual worship, adoration seems to be to best description I have found. At this point we don't ask for anything, don't praise for what He has given us or what He has done for us. Just consider who and what He is. Pure love, all knowing, all powerful and a long list of other things. That because of Jesus' work we can now simply enjoy being in His presence.
Expressing this adoration can be vocal, loud, quiet, dance, jump, raise hands, anything the Holy Spirit directs.
He doesn't want us to be afraid of Him - fear of the Lord is actually having a deep respect , reverence.
If you are new to this subject but want to get to this point, just do what you can and pray for leading. Father knows your heart and isn't standing over you with a club waiting for you to mess up.

Judson Cornwall was a pioneer of this level of praise then worship. He wrote at least 2 books on this subject.

I'd advise reading let us praise all the way through - maybe more than once.

If you are self conscious about expressing yourself in worship, close your eyes for total privacy.
Truely, no one really cares how you worship - only the Father. Plus with eyes closed you have no visual distractions.

My dear brother,
often when I try to get the words out of my head and clearly written/expressed to others they (my words) come out jumbled. Or, I end up saying the same thing over and over again in different ways that it gets confusing, even for me to understand.
Now, having said that, I just wanted to let you know that even if I do not comment/reply to certain posts throughout, I have read through this thread and have smiled, nodded my head, been moved (at times almost to tears, in a good way) . I have learned from it, and have rediscovered/reawakened something that has been missing in my life for some time.
Finding words, lyrics to praise is pretty easy at least for me, Just open our eyes and we'll find a lot of praise worthly things to praise God for. Worship language is another thing though and I admit that I have had difficulty finding words or lyrics. I recently remembered a song from the mid 1960's by Petula Clark. "My Love". Please listen to her sing and where fitting change the lyrics from "My love" to YOUR LOVE." IMHO it fits as worship.
