Despite the popular Christian belief that we can eat anything, Pork really bothers me, though I used to love bacon. I'll have to study more but I think that prohibition includes Shrimp and Crab. :(

my grandfather worked on a shrimp boat for many years.

he would eat shrimp, but would not eat crab. he used to say " a crab crawls around on the bottom, and will eat whatever, i mean whatever it comes across".

" i eat crab, had some last week. your post made me think of what my grandfather would say about crabs..

Pork is similar. Raised in a muddy hog pen, the meat is dangerous. Raised in a clean pasture it is more safe. The risk with uncooked Pork is trichenosis worms and that is often fatal. I avoid it because I feel a bit dubious about the Christian belief in that area.

nothing is dubious about it.

gentiles were never under any O.T. law, so no Sabbath and dietary laws apply to modern Christians.

food, as Paul said, is a personal choice.

The things the Bible listed as unclean really are quite unclean. The only way we eat them safely today is because we know what temperature kills the bugs in them.

God could have explained all this to them back then, but they had neither thermometers nor microscopes, and certainly no paradigm in which to fit the explanation. So it was much more simple to just tell them "don't eat these things. Just don't. Trust me on this one." (Loose paraphrase.)

As for bottom feeders, I live down in southwest Tennessee, where the only fish we eat is catfish. You want to talk bottom feeders... catfish are the roaches of the river.

Well... it's really mushy. But yeah, lovers of fried catfish know what they feed on and don't care.

if it bothers you, dont eat it...others will

its your choice.
God gave kosher food laws to the Israelites only. Maybe you have Israelite ancestry.

Most people do not eat raw pork.
