There seems to be a common trend with these types of horrendous events. The shooter had many signs of a disturbed individual who needed psychological help before this event occurred. No one knows what is the breaking point as many kids go through bad situations and come out okay.

But the signs should always be taken seriously. Another common trend that doesn't justify the shooter's actions was they were bullied in school. Does that automatically assume a bullied child will harm others or harm themselves?

No, but it seems to trend that way and needs further investigation. Would cutting down on micro and macro aggressions lead to better mental health due to the fact that experiencing higher levels of microaggressions is linked to lower mental health.

Micro and macro aggressions will affect everyone eventually in life, but we must examine the foundation of morality and then promote such morality in our homes, schools, and government. Ultimately, we must ask what systems already in place worked great and what systems failed.

I have been taking a course on the rise and fall of Rome, and Polybius, who was a historian during the rise of Rome, wrote a book called “The Histories”. In it, he says one of the main reasons Rome so easily conquered the known world at the time in under 53 years was due to their constitution. The Greek word for a constitution was politeia which was more in-depth than how we understand the English word constitution. For them, the Constitution was about the laws and governance of government, but it also promoted the social and cultural way of life that united the Republic under a basic agreement on morality, education, and admiration or piety to the pantheon of gods and goddesses. Why does this info matter?

Because we as a nation have thrown off even the basics of morality for greed, power, and selfish desires, we may still have the laws but lost the piety that made the laws so revolutionary. That piety once united the nation but now divides the country, no longer one nation under the God and as our national motto quotes.

We point out what is evil but fail to understand we as a nation are grooming evil with destructive ideologies. Wake up and face reality, the reality of both nature and beast; we are, if left to our carnal nature, worse than the beasts of the wild. We have a soulish connection to the mind knowing what we do is right or wrong. The saving message of the gospel is the number one answer within the moral structure designed by God.

We secure our banks, military installations, houses, and politicians, but not our kids. If Biden cared about gun control, he would crack down on the border and crack down on crime.

We have a morality problem, but society is obviously not ready to address the foundational problem, so we are left trying to clean up the aftermath, a gaping wound, while trying to patch it with a band-aid.

If we will not address morality, then we are left to live in a world where we must make our schools look like prisons in order to keep out unwanted intruders.

If we do not take crime seriously, then expect human nature to take its wicked course more easily. The punishment must fit the crime, and in less of doubt, it should be acted out swiftly and not decades sitting in a prison cell. Innocent life matters, but be afraid for the sword of good government, which God designed to distinguish all bouts of evil.

Don't talk to me about sorrow if you support children being ripped apart in the womb. Don't talk about evil when your worldview has no God. Don't talk about justice while defending injustice.

Judgment. Romans 1, Paul goes into great detail of what happens to a society/culture/nation when it seeks desecrate what God has revealed and given. A wicked nation will reap the thorns it has sown.

Nothing new, when this nation was envaded by foreign people lots of death happened to native Indians, land stole by new American name being Christian is a false term. Good and evil always happens through history so its all balanced on this planet. Never will change.

Ecclesiastes 3:15: “That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already has been; and God seeks what has been driven away.” The “natural man” cannot grasp that, for to him reality is based only on the evidence of the senses. The man of reason could justify the verse’s end, saying if it has any meaning then the writer must mean recurrence. The sun comes every day and the moon completes its cycle and the seasons come and go. If we took a picture of the universe today, the scientists can compute how long it will take to return to this point in the picture. So the intellectual man could justify the verse; but that is not what is meant, for it is addressed not to the man of reason or the man of sense, but to the man of Imagination. What is it all about? “That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already has been, and God seeks what has been driven away.”

I believe we are beginning the last days.
The media wants our focus on political and social events. Far left far right debates social justice, a in your face administration that tell us what they are going to do rather than what the people want.
Brain washing our youth today with a wicked education agenda. This is old news.
Theres a wicked spirit on the loose a antichrist spirit. Making way for the one who seems to have the answers.
Murder is against the law. Life in prison or a death sentence. Yet people murder. So what gun law would stop it?
I own several guns, have for years. Never have seen them go out and shoot someone.
So how can a law change the heart of a person? Its people that kill not guns. Take away the guns ..hey theyll use a knife.
My heart is very troubled by recent events. Ive been where the parents are now. So so tragic.

The American foundation was built on the model of the mayflower compact and the spirit of the Pilgrims not the Spaniards, the British, France, etc.

The founders looked to them as their founding fathers. The Pilgrims bought land, traded with the Indians, and the Indians gave them land that had been devastated by disease a year prior. They had the longest peace treaty in history among the Indians. That treaty was broken when the tribe's chief Massasoit passed away and his son despised the Christian indian converts. The first Indian war against Plymouth and surrounding allies was called the King Phillips war.

What happened at Plymouth was revolutionary. You can read about their struggles in William Bradford's journal the leader of the Plymouth colony.

Despite the common mantra, the English settlements were welcomed by many Indian tribes who were enslaved and oppressed by other hostile tribes. Indian land was in constant risk of being invaded by other Indian tribes.

The gospel was spread by the foreigners into a very hostile pagan world.

Of course, evil was done on both sides but much good was done as well.

To me the greatest risk is a corrupt government who bans guns or regulates them to the point that nothing the average citizen has could withstand the military. More people in history have died in places where guns were outlawed.

Guns like the nuke can be great deterrent or a great disaster according to the will of the beholder. The moral choice to decide on using it for good or evil and the face of evil has infected DC. I fear the government more than a summer of riots, more than the mass shooter, more than China, and more than climate change.

Brother dont get caught up in the delusion. From the book i read from and you know well the sword is greater than any gun or nuke.
I am all for the rights of the people and agree with you 100% but we are called to a higher calling one more powerful than anything created.
Fear no man. Fear no form of man.
This is a battle that must take place. The stakes are high so consider the cost. At the end of the day ...we win praise God.
You mentioned clmate change....no such thing. This is the earth beginning to be restored to the way God intended.
The spirit of antichrist is now gaining momentum as people are looking for alternatives other than seeking God.
Many have gone to seek what is right in their own eyes.
You and i along with all who believe in CHRIST JESUS were born for such a time as this. For God has purposed all things for his good pleasure.
Bow your knee and stay humble, pray always, put on your whole armor. If God be for us who can stand against us?

When God is removed, the door is wide open for Satan and his demons to enter in.
The door has not only been opened, it has been removed and cast away.

There is an excellent documentary detailing these times as you describe above. It is
based on William Bradford's journals, and available on Netflix:
Saints and Strangers :)

Ooh I'll have to see if my wife still has Netflix. Thank you, it is always exciting to see historical events come to life in a documentary. It is quite a blessing they survived. But equally amazing that it was much on the efforts of Squanto who had been taken as a slave years prior to the Pilgrims landing and eventually he gained his freedom. Squanto found faith in Christianity and wanted to return back to his family in America. Unfortunately, they all had been killed by disease. It was because of Squanto the Pilgrims survived and made good relations with the Indians.

We secure our banks, military installations, houses, and politicians, but not our kids.
The evildoers in America and the West (which includes governments, teachers unions, the medical establishment, etc.) have actually targeted kids and young people for destruction. None of them cares about the children, and they wish to brand concerned parents as "domestic terrorists".

The public school system is finished. They wish to pervert or indoctrinate children. So what should really be happening is a mass exodus of kids from public schools to either home schools or Christian schools. That could make all the difference.

Senator Ted Cruz tried to introduce legislation in 2013 to "harden" public schools in order to protect kids. But the evil Democrats sabotaged that move. That is because they simply love mass shootings on a regular basis. That gives them an opportunity to shout and scream "Gun Control!" and deflect attention from the real problems.

BTW this thread should be moved to the News forum.

I do highly recommend it, and am always happy to share my recommendations with others :D
I also very much enjoy well made documentaries, and dramatizations of history from pretty
much any times past. Being somewhat of a shut-in, if it were not for Netflix, CC, and a
penchant for designing Scripture panels, I may have already gone stir crazy :whistle::giggle:

Wow, I just did a search for the best historical docs on Netflix, and I have only seen one of them

I am going to have to do something to change that ;)

The one I saw listed was about Bobby Kennedy.

I really enjoyed it. I have seen quite a few historical dramatizations, though.
Perhaps many of them were simply not classified as documentaries.

There is another one listed that has something to do with your thread.

It is called Tower (<= imdb link :)) and has won quite a few awards. The write up for it says:

How did our nation get to a place of such violence? Where mass shootings
occur with grim regularity? Tower, a uniquely animated documentary, tells
the story of one of our nation's first of these events: the 1966 University Of
Texas shooting. It's equal parts horrifying and inspiring. Its thesis statement
is unfortunately relevant today: Make these acts stop.

It may be speaking of news but it was the Bible's morality I am speaking of most as to why I chose the Bible thread.
