My goal here was to learn. I could have just kept the old stereotypes and had prejudices. What I prefer to do is understand. Because sure enough there are wackadoos in every camp that gives that camp a bad name. I mean come on, if ya say Lutheran people automatically assume ELCA nut jobs with lesbian pastors, but the rest of the Lutheran Synods reject their foolishness. Why would I assume anything different about others. That there are some and mostly very public groups who call themselves Pentecostal or Baptist but indeed are not and only serve as an embarrassment.
The reason I say evangelical Catholic is because it was what Luther said. Luther's goal was to rid the church of the papal abuses, not start another church. He wanted reform, not division.
Even my view of the Roman Papists is that there are some devout Christians who love God there, but suffer the abuses and embarrassments of the pope.
Anyway the world is in a mess and us christians are gonna be in a tough time soon. We better figure out how to survive together. Even if theological differences prevent us from full fellowship.
