I am curious to see what younger people think of parental involvement in their children's relationship search.

My son is 24 and looking to get married. We live in a rural area and he was homeschooled. We are pretty conservative and non-denominational but have a pretty serious faith.

What experiences have people had with dating web sites?

Would younger people find parental involvement helpful or intrusive?

If they paid for the wedding maybe I dont know

parents are either involved or abandon you to the wolves. Since your son is 24 he doesnt need your permission though, I think the legal age is 18?

But thing is its better to have your parents blessing than curses for a potential daughter in law. She might be looking after you in your old age....or not.

Well I'm not younger, nor a parent, but I was younger once and still know how I felt about the idea.
The answers may vary, not all people are the same, but if I was in that position I'd keep my nose out of Their business. And thats what I wanted at the time too. And still do now.
The only exception to that rule is if there was a clear risk to my child. Abuse and such things I would take a stand against the relationship. But simply not caring for their choice is not my business.

I'd suggest that you ask him if he would like your involvement... and respect his answer.

My parents abandoned me to the wolves and that didn't go well lol. I learned from experience. My advice is to ask them if they would like some guidance. I wish my parents did.

Is it a situation of you introducing him to a daughter of a friend?
Ive never been on a dating site, Ive heard a lot of horror stories and some success stories.
I think if he was okay with you giving him advice on other things that might be a thumbs up to proceed with caution.
I had two Indian friends at university that were in arranged marriages. One of them was abused by her husband and fled the country with her kids. The other had a great friendship with her husband, she told me she was not in love but had love for him. Last time I saw her she was pregnant. Im thinking parents might know their child better than the child.
If the chances are low on meeting women his age, then I dont see the harm in putting it to him.
