I am 18 years old. Recently, a lot of stress has appeared in my life. I stopped coping with my studies, improved relations with relatives and I was diagnosed with depression. Psychiatric illness is not recognized in my church, and I don't know who I can turn to for help and support. Perhaps someone had similar situations?..

Daria, it sounds as if you have gotten a lot of good advice so far. I just wanted to make sure that you have blood work performed by your doctor. I see an internist regularly, and when I first visited, he did blood work and found that I was deficient in vitamin B-12. Since that time I have taken a B complex vitamin supplement, and I have so much more energy and don't feel down so much. I noticed a big difference. Also, make sure that you do spend some time getting sunshine every day as much as possible (20 minutes or so is sufficient). Those sound like small things, but they can really help give you that natural boost. I hope you do well. God bless you.

I have been having depression and anxiety for a long time, tried out various antidepressants and psychologists.

In the end wether a medication works or not seems to be individual. For me antidepressants didn't work but this doesn't

mean that it has to be the same for others. Some people also don't tolerate antidepressants very well or get side effects.

At first I was really worried about side effects cause many of them have long lists of side effects. I got no side effects,

but also no positive effects.

I also didn't make good experiences with psychologists but this is also individual.

If you feel bad and suffer and feel like your life is out of control you should definitely seek medical help and maybe also try

a therapist. Maybe you are lucky and find a nice one.

Of course having a christian counselor/therapist would probably be the best option, if you can get a hold of one and if your

insurance would even cover this.

As for anxiety,

while antidepressants didn't work for me, anti-anxiety meds work. They are pretty reliable, however there are things to consider.

Most of them should not be taken for a prolonged time cause of dependence and addiction risk!

You should discuss this with your doctor.

JFYI and edification,
All they have are chemicals that might mask symptoms.
Chemicals don't heal.
They also might cause suicide.
May I suggest keeping a journal for food, possible mold and chemical exposures and pray for God to reveal what is triggering these episodes?
When we seek and ask like that, sometimes He leads us to someone who can actually help us. For instance, I just took a class from a world renowned researcher who helps people discover causes of things that are lifetime mysteries that were merely chemically treated by MDs.

I learned from a Pastor that depression is a sign of hidden anger. You might need to find out what your angry about and do forgiveness.
Loss of vitamins can result into mental problems. Taking a multi-vitamin + B6 might help you after long term. You can do 5-strands and find out if your are low in something.
