I am 18 years old. Recently, a lot of stress has appeared in my life. I stopped coping with my studies, improved relations with relatives and I was diagnosed with depression. Psychiatric illness is not recognized in my church, and I don't know who I can turn to for help and support. Perhaps someone had similar situations?..
Hello Daria,
Sorry to hear that you are going through this challenge.
You say that you are going through a lot of stress. When we have crisis and stressful situations that make us feel overwhelmed, it can have a cascading effect with many. The fight or flight response kicks in and can take over.
This is not a consultation since we' are only talking on this public forum with knowledge limited to your one post.
I'm going to offer a list of things that many people find helpful. What you choose to do as an adult is up to you.
I will say that I caution Americans about the medical industry, like psychiatrists because they push dangerous drugs that sometimes have worse effects than the condition they diagnose.
1. Avoid processed foods
2. Avoid sugar
3. Eat a whole food diet (prepare your meals from scratch.). If you live at home with parents, they might appreciate that. If your Mother shops for groceries, she might like you shopping with her and making healthy choices.
4. Mega B vitamins supplement. The higher dose multiple B of the better brands are usually balanced. The body burns up B vitamins very quickly when under stress. The same is true for magnesium.
5. Magnesium supplement. Try to find the Mg Gluconate form, but others work too. The exception is MgOxide. It's no good.
3-4 times per day with food as directed.
5. Limit screen time to a short amount.
6. Spend time outside in the sun each day with short sleeves for exposure.
7. Take walks daily and/ or stay active in a sport you enjoy.
8. Eat liver and eggs. The body requires enough cholesterol to produce hormones that counter stress.
Calf liver is best.
Egg yokes should be soft, like fried sunny side up or soft boiled. Orange yokes are best from free range chickens. Check your area for farmers who sell them.
9. Share your problems with loving family and friends to get things off your chest. Especially remember that Jesus is your Friend and He cares for us.
10. Spend time in the Bible every day. Start with a chapter and end with a chapter.
These are things that many find helpful. I pray for you to receive peace and God's love.
To your health and happiness
