Paid subscriptions can take 24 to 48 hours to become active since we haven't been able to automate the system yet. Once the subscription is paid our lead Admin has to confirm the payment and activate the features.

Wait there’s subscription? 🤣 I been here so long I had no idea. I must have been grandfathered in unawares because I was here before the site revamp.

Subscriptions were around before the revamp. For a few years now, actually.
But, yes, you were grandfathered in.

You have to pay to unlock certain features (like starting a PM) you can still receive them and respond to whoever sent you one though.

I'm not sure what other features are included but I do like full functionality as a way to support the site, as it is not expensive.

Welcome btw :)

Yeah, us old-timers were grandfathered in. You can still write posts in the forums or visit the chatrooms but with a paid subscription you have access to the conversation feature as well. I still miss the pre-revamp days on this site. I have yet to download the new chatroom app and don't intend to do so as I heard that it gets hostile there and the chat peeps can ban anyone from the chat rooms (temp ban) they chose. When I did visit when I first joined I found the flow of conversation to be disjointed and trivial in nature, or it was about Jesus 24/7/365. I would get flooded with IM's constantly from peeps I didn't know or care to know asking personal questions which I certainly had no intention of answering. I am a forum peep thru and thru.

Originally the subscriptions were in the live chat only. A paid subscription gave the subscriber the ability to initiate private messaging and priority in the que for the mic. More recently subscriptions were expanded into the forums for access to private messaging and the ability to chose a custom user title. Users who predate the subscription system were grandfathered in.

In reality the site doesn't get much in subscriptions compared to the actual cost of operating the site so we still predominantly depend on donations to fund the site. The subscriptions more help keep down abuse in the private messaging system since most persons who are going to abuse private messaging aren't too likely to pay.

Yeah that makes sense...I forgot about custom titles.

Spammers and scammers typically make use of free private message systems and putting a small pay wall to counteract that. Me likes.

Ok I know I'm not in the Tech Forum but how does a 'custom user title' differ from the norm?
