This chart only shows US dept held by foreign governments. In reality the vast majority of US debt is "owned" by US companies and residents in the form of US Treasury Bills and Bonds as part of their investment holdings (think retirement investing).

Just wondering, seen as Im in Australia and only see what is posted in the media, what do the majority of American members on here think of your current president Donald Trump. I know very little of America so again this is simply a question out of curiosity

While I was highly entertained by Trump when he was a reality TV personality on The Apprentice and enjoyed his over the top personality on that show. I have not been entertained or supported him ever as a president.
While I believe that Republicans backed him because he is what they chose, most Americans were tired of the old politicians and the same ole, same ole and since he was a boasted business man and because he was the party choice that does not support abortions the Christians rallied behind him and gave their support. He did not get my support and never will.
We have suffered as a country and probably viewed as a laughing stock to other countries because of his constant tweeting and negative comments about multiple people groups and praise for his dictator friendships that he has developed along the way. I personally feel he is a morally bankrupt person, who believes the lies he tells himself and tries to pass on to the American people and he has loads of followers even on the site. Again obviously I am not one of them.
We are heading quickly to 100,000 lives lost to this virus that he touted as a hoax when he had been told back in December that a virus was going on in China and even had meetings in January. Our medical professionals still have a hard time getting the personal protective gear that they need to work everyday on the front lines. Our country has the most deaths from this virus so far and it isn't over yet to tally up the total damage and loss we will have to face.
Yet he touts the drug that has been known to kill people by damaging the heart as a side effect and wondering out loud to one of the Doctors on TV if disinfectant could be injected to kill the virus. Many people believe him and follow his lead and it will be interesting to see how many end up dying from his recommendations and even if he ends up developing heart problems taking a drug that he doesn't really need at this time as a preventative measure.
I wait to see if Americans really want another 4 years of this chaos. I for one do not look forward to it and pray for something or someone else. Again our choices aren't good this election year either. Is there a sane Independent out there who will step up to the plate?

Just one thing! Hydroxychloroquine or Plaquenil is NOT dangerous! I've been on it for over a year, all totalled. I do a lot of research about the drugs I take.
This heart attack thing is nonsense. It only causes heart attacks in people with a long Q wave. They are people who need pacemakers. I have coronary heart disease and it hasn't affected me at all.
Further, I run a large RA group for Canadians and we have talked about this drug a lot, in view that one person didn't get even a month's supply, and a lot of people only got 1 month after the pandemic started. That changed when Trudeau demanded India fulfill their obligation for paid Plaquenil, to be sent immediately! I had no problem getting a 3 month's supply just a week ago.
Plaquenil is the mildest and safest drug you can take for autoimmune diseases like RA or lupus or PsA. My group has over a thousand members, with at least 900 members having been on it. Sometimes it is not strong enough, very occasionally someone has an allergic reaction, which is possible with any medication, so not everyone is still on it. It wasn't strong enough for me in 2000 and 2015. It is now, because I take it in combo with other, more dangerous DMARD and a biologic.
My rheumatologist had to lower my dose of injectable methotrexate, because my liver enzymes would not stop climbing and I was in a lot of pain and flaring. So I asked if I could be put back on Plaquenil. This was my rheumatologist's reply, "Would I put you on the weakest and safest drug used for RA? Of course I would!"
Getting back to my RA group, one person had damage to her field of vision, which is the side effect we get warned about. Nothing has even been said about this heart attack nonsense. Certainly no one of the 900 people have had any issues with heart. And pacemakers are generally for people in their 70s & 80s.
The left wing media will do anything to bring Trump down. I have a left wing friend and she was telling everyone who stupid Trump was to be taking it, and how dangerous it is, with lots of links to left wing sources saying people taking it were all going to die. I kept countering her, telling her I am on it and how safe it is, before she realized what I was saying, and apologized for being wrong.

You have to be checked yearly, including for 5 years after you stop the drug, but very safe, I would not take it if it was dangerous. Plus it is so much safer than the chemo drugs I am also taking for RA!

There are not two USAs, only one, and though it is the most Christian now it is still decaying rapidly and all the world is being prepared for the fire. There are two spiritual kingdoms though, maybe this is what you detect; the kingdom of God and the kingdom of the Devil, the kingdom of light and the kingdom of darkness. These are present to lesser and greater degrees in all the earthly kingdoms over the passage of time.
It's less that and more that politics here have created a huge rift. The whole PC thing has created a generation of people unable to tolerate any view other than their own. That intolerance fosters similar intolerance in the opposing party.
Plus having a clearly and blatantly biased media continually feeding the division.
And going from a liberal president ashamed of his country and trying to sell it to our enemies vs a current president who is much more pro-America, makes that division much more obvious.

I am glad that it helps you with your health issues and I also realize that the drug must do some good or it wouldn't be around to help people.
My main issue with it is that Trump is touting something as a preventative measure when it has not been tested as being such and because he is taking it by his example how many other people will now rush to their Dr. to get the same drug when they really don't need it.
I have seen the news where it has helped people who are really bad off with Covid19 and I am very happy for those people and also for you as the drug is going to help in certain circumstances, but I have also seen the reports of people dying from heart attacks because of taking the drug they didn't need because they did not have Covid19 and aren't taking it under a Dr. direction.
So unless Trump has Covid19 and is in need of it then fine but if he doesn't have it then I think he is foolish. I personally would not take the drug as I don't need it and again it has not been proved as a preventative measure against Covid19 in this case I think it is too risky. Trump has a lot of followers and I personally won't drink the kool aid he is promoting.
