Right now I can improve the quality of education dramatically so that all of our test results are far better than they are now, and I can do that for significantly less money than we are currently spending. Conservatively, I would say for half of what we are currently spending.

The problem is that those improvements will come by changing the instructors to Khanmigo and teachers who currently make a good salary can be replaced with people making minimum wage. The only reason the savings isn't more is because I would keep the teams, the after school programs, and would want our best and brightest teachers (let's say top 20%) to stay and be like band leaders in helping teams of students use AI to write books, movies, create art, and computer applications.

The second problem is that I know that the process of removing the "inefficient" teachers and replacing them with AI is the exact same process that Elon Musk used in DOGE in making the Federal government "more efficient". DOGE is not R&D, it is a showcase of how AI can make a company or business more efficient. He worked on that project to sell AI and not to the CEO, but to the board of directors and the stockholders. Not all people running companies are cold and heartless. They won't want to lay people off unless they have no choice. Elon is not looking for a slow rollout with stories of how this department and that department were helped. No, he wants to claim they can save trillions of dollars and get up there on a daily basis making press announcements of the savings.

I also suspect that when people see this homeschooling will take off, especially out of churches. So the number of students in "public school" could drop by 50%.

a lot of teenagers don't drive period. they ride share everywhere.
Hey, according to Elon Musk within 12 months you'll be able to order a self driving Tesla from Uber to drive you around just about any city. I don't see any reason to buy a new car because of this. Consider the monthly payments on the car, the insurance as well as maintenance, inspections, registration, parking, etc. Considering how much I need a car it is definitely going to be cheaper and easier to simply order a self driving car when I need it.

"Kids these days"

I wonder how far back it goes?
every now & then, i think of parents & grandparents who said that to all kids. in the 50's, it was rampant behavior when guys were beating up guys for women, in the 40's women were cheating on their men who went to war when they said they would wait, the depressive 30's occurred because of the behavior of society in the roaring 20's & in the 30's robberies were catastrophic, in the 20's men & when partied like every day was their last day on earth involving themselves in orgies, before that, there were shootouts galore, train robberies, wild sex was beginning to take hold, thievery of all kinds & horse & cow thefts. hey grand & great & double great & triple great & quadruple great & quintuplet great parents, "what's the matter with you kids in those days"?!!!!!!!

Why would anyone think of homeschooling when they can have THIS teaching your kid?

Today was a busy day, so on the way back home I stopped at a Subway Sandwich Shop to get something to eat. I was greeted by a nice young lady who promptly made my sandwich then went to the register to collect payment. This is where the trouble began.
  • She keyed in my order and told me that it would be 9.74.
  • I gave her a twenty which she placed into the register and shut the door.
  • She then ask if there was anything else that I needed
  • I told her yes, I need my change back. I gave you a twenty dollar bill!
  • She could not get the register open and had to make a call to do so.
  • The person on the other end of the conversation had to tell her how much money I was owed.
  • I think it is very sad that a person can go through school and yet not get a proper education.
Have you ever experienced the same problem?

I never knew how to make change until I was in a position to need to know and someone taught me. They never taught me that in high school, at least back when I was in high school they didn't. As for the register, it sounds like a lack of proper training. I can think of a lot of reason why this girl was having problems, but I wouldn't necessarily attribute any of it to our our education system; though there's certainly a lot of room for improvement in that dept.

It’s not easy to believe. Some of us, most likely myself, must have been living under a rock for a long time. Maybe it’s not that apparent in the Navy or in law enforcement?

It's 10 am, do you know where your children are?

Luckily my daughter is in her 30s, so I don’t have to worry about that…hmmm…but what about her children? Nah, they’re still preschoolers…

For the love of discretion! Where has it gone? Since when is anyone's sex life have any relevancy to basic learning?! In what world is it okay to let your students know all about your preferences otherwise designate to your supposed privacy?!

...

*Now seriously*...

Preschool story time brought some of the greatest memories, information, and connections when my (now teens) kiddos were little

lol, I haven’t heard her complain about what’s going down in preschool, so I guess it’s pretty much the common stuff.

well, she better keep a close watch on what they are being taught and what questions the teachers are asking.
