There's yogurt with less (or no) sugar, is there not? I was long been trying to locate some previous posts on someone making yogurt (wwjd? or someone else). Yogurt is one food i did not know about while growing up, but when i learned to eat it, i wish we could afford it more. So i learned to make, and how simple it is to make after all.. its the waiting time that takes a while.. some say 4 hr, others overnight. To make it simple, i stive to make at night to leave to grow and put away in the ref in the morning. The others of course like it w/ sugar, so i let them mix or add as they want, but i minimize my own sugar or put in some fresh fruit. That way, i dont feed the bad bac, as others say we do when eat too much sweets.Yes! I luv frozen yogurt as much as I luv ice cream, but both have sugar. Soooo... there's that.![]()

i love almonds, if they were more accessible and affordable here... i have in fact tried almond milk, but honestly i could perhaps make that in a blue moon. in fact i wanted to ask others if any have tried to make yogurt w/ it, for those who cannot eat dairy for some reasons. altho to me personally, almonds are not that easy to get and use, just as coconut in all its stages, are. i mean, i hear coconut milk is drank by other ppl in asian countries, for example, but i did not know abt that for a long, long time. i thot it was just for cooking=). then i see more and more recipes of flans and custards w/ coconut milk instead of milk, so i see ppl are doing it.If you're interested in considering a substitute for ice cream, I'd recommend something almond milk based or as another alternative an ethical and 100% healthy choice to what you would normally consume is 'wot no dairy'. It is Dairy, gluten, soy and nut free – based on pea protein. It is sweetened with apple juice with no added cane or beet sugar. That should put you onto a good start. God speed.

nice, thanks laura. that wud be nice, but u dont have to. sometimes we do have various nuts at the same time, but the guys wud often consume when fried, roasted, boiled (peanuts) as if there wasnt some if its raw almonds or walnuts, for ex. it is nice to stock up, but i often have to find a way to incorporate in othr cooking so theyd be eaten-). even raisins are ignored, when i was glad enough with a box of sunmaid when we were in school n there was no othr snack.
Almond milk is a fantastic alternative to dairy. In the past i've used 'Inside Out', I highly recommend it. If you have any issues getting your hands on some, I'm happy to send a few over for you to try. If you're after a source of protein, I would go for straight up unadulterated almonds though, I always keep our house stocked up. It's a great snack.
I just try to take good care of myself and trust God with the rest
If people would like to bicker about the social responsibility of food and it's sourcing, go set that soapbox up someplace else. That's a different topic from what is being discussed here. This thread would move along just fine without all the social justice warrior garbage clogging it up.
Now by all means, please fire back at me with all the venom I've come to expect from a large swath of the membership here. Otherwise...shhh.
There is nothing wrong with having cravings for ice cream or whatever. For instance I grew up in the country where you hunt and raise your own animals for meat and they do manipulate the clips in those cruelty videos to make it look worse than it really is. God created animals for us to eat and for someone to say we shouldn't and it's not biblical is absurd. We have a small dairy that we buy our milk from and let me tell ya it's delicious and it doesn't have all the hormones in it to produce more milk. Yes, those videos of animal cruelty is horrible, but they show those to scare people out of eating meat and when you raise your own you know exactly what you are feeding them and how they are taken care of, but still it isn't right to pass judgment upon those that do eat meat. I had someone in high school who was advocating being vegan and judged other people as they were eating and as a result she wasn't happy and didn't have any friends. My suggestion is to accept people for who they are and not what they eat
