Hello StarI see this is your last post for the past couple of weeks, at least... and I have not been all that active either, as I had surgery mid August and am still recovering from that
I did not realize how much energy it takes to be here on a more regular basis, until I found myself too low on energy to participate
Anyways, it has been a while, and I cannot remember if it was you or @Duskey who requested these verses from Matthew for a panel when I asked, but I have finally found the energy to compete it also (I started it toward the end of August)
I have been away for a long time but am now back and "raring" to go. My husband had surgery mid-August and he is now going to be on special treatment for his recurring bladder cancer. My attention has been on that but we are settling down now and I am back on here with a vengence. lolol The above verses are very meaningful to me now and thank you for posting.
Good morning folks. I have been away for a long time but I am back. Hope ya'll missed me a little bit. lol My husband had surgery mid- August right after we sold our house and moved temporarily into an apartment until we can find our new place of abode. He had bladder cancer last year and it has returned. He had surgery to remove and surgery was successful. He will now be on an immunotherapy regimen for a period of time in enable his body to help fight off this high rate of return cancer. We pray without ceasing that this regimen will succeed. Your prayers are appreciated. So glad to be back among fellow God lovers.
The essential baptism is by the Holy Spirit (and fire).
I baptize you with water for repentance, but after me will come One more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. Matthew 3:11
Luke 3:16
John answered all of them: “I baptize you with water, but One more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
Mark 1:8 "I (John the Baptist) baptize you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
John 1:33 'The man on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is He who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.'
Acts 1:5 "For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit."

It's good to see you posting again, for I truly appreciate your passion for the Truth. I'm sorry to hear of your husband's recurring bladder cancer, and pray he fully recovers this time. My surgery mid-August was also for cancer; the operating room was booked for 7 hours! However, the surgery itself only took just under 4 hours, though apparently such major surgery can go much longer, and in my post-op with the surgeon last week, he told me I was cured. I have posted about it a couple of times in Jerry's Midnight Confessions thread in the singles forum, and also in Speak Your Mind. I pray for a speedy recovery for your husband, peace of mind for you, comfort in the presence of God, and great happiness in your new home.Here are the posts I made detailing some of my experiences of late:

I have no idea how they keep on insisting that Christian Water Baptism SAVES. And I was raised in an Church like that, but changed Churches when I was Born Again FOR REAl. They create a contradiction with this verse.
1 Peter 3:20 (NCV)
20 who refused to obey God long ago in the time of Noah. God was waiting patiently for them while Noah was building the boat. Only a few people—eight in all—were saved by water.
And this verse:
1 Corinthians 12:13 (NASB)
13 For by one Spirit we were all {certainly includes the thief on the cross} baptized into one body,
whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.
No water involved in the Baptism performed by the Holy Spirit on OUR HEART (Human Spirit).
You cite the very reason as to why they believe that.
Church doctrine. The church you were in that taught that.
I went to an Anglican church and baptism was a sprinkling.
I was 16 and had to make a confession of faith.
When I went to college I ended up in a Baptist Church.
When asked if I had been baptised I said yes, when asked the method I said sprinkling and they said that's not true baptism.
So I was fully immersed. Never told I was not saved though.
Funny thing is (well actually not funny at all and atrocious) I went to a week gathering type thing for Baptist churches. I went forward for prayer as I was struggling.
I was asked if I spoke in tongues. I said no.
Was then told it was evidence I was not saved and asked if I wanted to speak in tongues to be saved.
Left that marquee in a flash.
It did happen in a few days.
not the fire by the way. Baptism with fire is being destroyed in hell. Baptism of the spirit is what happens when we are baptized into Christ as previously mentioned.
Matthew 3:11-12
New American Standard Bible
11 “As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 12 His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clear His threshing floor; and He will gather His wheat into the barn, but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
The context is clear. Some will be baptized by the spirit. Some will be baptized by fire. Those baptized by fire are those “baptized” into the lake of fire and destroyed. It’s the chaff collected with his winnowing fork and burned up with the unquenchable fire.
The Church was a Lutheran Church, that insisted Martin LUTHER taught that, and it is left over Catholicism in my opinion.
The Whole world is reconciled by his death . But much more we are saved by his life . Resurrection.
10For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
That LIE is a Perversion that You do not get saved until you speak in tongues. It was as Thorough as the Holy Spirit wanted me to write, and not page more, though I could have written a whole book on that supject. So it is in 9 segments, and it is written to encourage the Non-Charismatic that their opinions are CORRECT. IN FACT IN MY OPINION, I believe there is no such thing any more, because it CEASED when the PURPOSE WAS COMPLETED for TONGUES. That Purpose was to CONFIRM to UNBELIEVING JEWS that the New Testament was as MUCH the WORD of GOD as the Old Testament.
THAT IS A CONFUSED LIE, that takes your eyes OFF JESUS, and puts them FIRMLY ON THE so-called Miraculous Gifts. I will not discuss it here, but I will refer you one of MY THREADS, where I discussed it Thoroughly. NO, I DO NOT WANT TO HAVE A DEBATE OF THIS RIDICULOUS SUBJECT, AT ALL. But for those who are of the Non-Charismatic TRUTH, who want to know more, HEAR IS A LENGTHY, THOROUGH, and VERY BIBLICAL STUDY ON the True Spiritual TONGUES, and why I consider the Modern Day tongues, a pure Counterfeit. Awesome post Magenta and thanks. I am also a 14-year cancer survivor. I lost my right kidney to renal cell carcinoma 14 years ago. Praise God from whom all blessings flow. I will read your posts and pray as well that you are healed completely.

I would like to know what you think after reading the testimony of Jackie Pullinger when she went to the Walled City in China, her book ‘Chasing the Dragon’ makes very interesting reading.
I personally have seen fruit from speaking in tongues and whilst I agree with you that it is very wrong and unbiblical for Christians to be told they must speak in tongues, nevertheless, you cannot show me any scripture which actually says this gift has ceased, on the contrary, the Bible tells us to covet the best gifts rather than a lesser gift such as tongues:
1 Corinthians 12
27Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. 28And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues. 29Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? 31But earnestly desire the higher gifts.
