Can born again Christians be enemies of God, or are we now His children, growing and being perfected/sanctified in Him?

Which is exactly why we should stay in Christ Jesus!

Saved by grace through faith, not works (Ephesians 2:8,9) is not merit based salvation.

That's because the text you quoted is all God, all grace, denies deeds or any action of man as the basis of election unto salvation. Foreseen action on the part of man causing God to elect unto salvation is merit. If we added into the text "because God saw you would choose him" then it negates grace.

Yes, by trampling on the blood by which they were sanctified. That's what the passage plainly says.

And this faith is a gift of God. That’s why God knows who will have faith, as He gifts it to His elect.

Fallen man can't believe the Gospel, it is impossible for fallen man to do so, note Romans 8:5-8. Faith comes from God.

"He" not "they" is what the text says. The "he" who is sanctified there is Christ.

We may disagree on the salvation aspects of Calvinism, but it defends the necessity for continued believing and holy living which I feel is the important thing to stress in this present time in the church. We are in agreement in that regard.
The gross error of Freegrace doctrine must be exposed.

That trust is what keeps you in Christ.
And I'm with you.....I can't imagine anyone forsaking/walking away from faith in Christ. But I know people do. I also know it has a lot to do with how deep the word is entrenched, and bearing fruit in a person's heart.

To deny Him would be to deny the most profound, life altering experiences I have had in my life.

Boy, if Adam can be a pattern of the one to come (Jesus), Judah is definitely that!
Consider the points of the story of Judah and Tamar and how they represent the pattern of Christ; the planting of the seed, the giving of a pledge, the transference of righteousness, the birth of the 'twins'. Good stuff for struggling pastors looking for sermon material!
