Ya know what? You only "persevere" to the very end IF you don't commit suicide. The way I see it, we have to live our life up to the end, when GOD calls us home.. That's MY understanding of the word persevere. 
I'd love to die very soon, but I can't, unless I off myself or get murdered. Because I can't give up on pushing through (or persevering, as you call it), just because I'm tired of living and long for my new pain-free eternal body.

Correct.
"Final perseverance" is pushing through with life the best we can, especially in difficult times, and having God reward us for it by saying "well done, thy good and faithful servant".
